David Forrester Wilson was a Scottish painter known for both naturalistic wildlife studies and Symbolist works. Trained at the Glasgow School of Art, he was influenced by Jean Delville, the Glasgow Boys, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and J.M. Whistler, and exhibited widely in Britain and abroad.
His work ranged from detailed landscapes to atmospheric Symbolist compositions. In recent years, his Symbolist paintings have gained renewed attention; notably, Andy Warhol admired Wilson’s work and owned several pieces.
