holy shit!! thank you to everyone who packed the house for our launch on Friday 🖤📼 we had such a fun time, and we’re so thrilled to bring this project to life with all of you huge shout out to @sam.elmore.music @b4thehorse @thee.dall @mozartisonline @toroallcaps and @xpinkylemonx for a night of top notch tunes and an especially huge shout out to everyone who bought tapes, zines, donated, and got hype for local artists needless to say we will do this again, so stay tuned 📻 📸: 2, 3, and 9 by @olivia.ligda , 5 by @alexrajzets ⭐️⭐️⭐️ all of this said, we woke up saturday morning estatic after a successful gig, but were instantly confronted with the news of ICE murdering another innocent person in cold blood in Minneapolis Alex Pretti, the man executed by the American gestapo, was an ICU nurse who was defending his community and spent his final moments trying to protect his neighbors from ICE’s brutality we have a moral obligation to live as Alex did, building and strengthening community in the face of fascist oppression and a complete break down of civil rights. here in DC, we have experienced ICE’s terror for months now, and we urge everyone to continue organizing, protesting, donating, and showing up for your city and your fellow human beings we know art plays an important role in that kind of community-building, and we will do anything we can to use our platform to keep up the fight against this violent fascism

The tape collection grows 📼 but leaving spots open for some DC releases coming soon… ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Don’t forget our launch party is next Friday, 1/23 🎉 with stripped down live music by @sam.elmore.music @b4thehorse @thee.dall @miri_tyler @toroallcaps and @xpinkylemonx And of course we’ll be listening our way through the collection between sets 👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Three of my favorite tapes: MAHAL by Toro y Moi — For some reason this album is just perfect for cassette. Lots of warm, smooth tones that sound great analog. A really fun and immersive listen especially from start to finish The Anthology by A Tribe Called Quest — Okay so it’s not a real album, it’s a compilation. But when I found this tape at @sg_bmore I was honestly shocked. A quick search will reveal how rare this release is on cassette. As a Tribe nerd I feel lucky to have it and to hear their best work on one tape Woo by @floralprintofficial — This was one of the first tapes I bought directly from a band at a show, back when I had a car that only played cassettes. Seeing them live kinda blew my mind. It’s progressive, mathy, psychedelic, and really impressive for a three piece. Now, this tape reminds me of driving across the hills of Pennsylvania through a snow storm on one of my first tours almost a decade ago. It’s so wonderful how good music can be the soundtrack of cherished memories!
