Written by Eduardo Galeano in the 1970s, updated every now and then, it describes the history of Latinamerica since the days of colonization until now(-ish) and helps understand what is going on in Venezuela now. This military coup is not about democracy, it is not about drugs. It is pure imperialism. It is about oil and power. It is about exploitation. It always was.

Vom 27. - 28.März '26 könnt ihr in Tübingen das spleißen lernen. In diesem Kurs könnt Ihr Hohltaue, doppelt geflochtene und 16fach geflochtene Seile spleißen.
Ihr werdet Seile noch einmal ganz neu kennenlernen und auch über die verschiedenen Materialien informiert, aus denen sie hergestellt werden. Ausserdem informieren wir euch über rechtliche Aspekte, CE-Zertifizierung und die Sicht der BG auf selbst gespleißte Seile. Alle Teilnehmenden nehmen die von Ihnen gespleissten Seile am Ende des Kurses mit und können diese dann auch benutzen!

What is the Annual Campout Event?
Each year on a dedicated weekend we invite people from all over the world to campout in their local forests creating the world's largest international coordinated camping event.
Why?
To remind ourselves to enjoy and appreciate these spaces. Listen, there are too many reasons to despair at the state of the world at the moment and the fight to protect our natural world can be exhausting. Getting outside for the sake of enjoying outside and knowing there are hundreds of others around the world doing the same at the same time is a powerful reminder we’re not alone.
The event virtually connects hundreds of people from different cultures, professions and countries all doing what they can with what they’ve got to protect forests.
Trained and experienced climbers sleep high in the trees connecting a community of tree climbers, arborists and researchers from around the world whilst encouraging our non climbing members to enjoy the forest from ground level.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting @distelforst a long time partner of DMM. Interestingly enough both companies are very similar in regards of quality of their gear, producing in Europe and being challenged with cheap copies from companies that rather cut corners than invest in product development. Their spikes are the best you can get in my opinion. If you are planning on visiting the @deutsche_baumpflegetage then I can tell you to expect new exciting products from both of us! 15 years ago today my friend and mentor Stanley Longstaff passed. I was very lucky to have met him and I feel honoured I can call him a friend. Most people don’t know but without him being such a master splicer we wouldn’t be where we are when it comes to hand splices in the arborist industry. We took the first picture in April before he passed in a park in Augsburg Germany where he was supposed to hold a presentation about rope. So next time you climb on a spliced rope and you feel absolutely safe just say a shy “Thanks Stanley!” as I do when I work in the trees or while splicing rope.
I miss you Stanley.
