Dear dears,
It has been a while but I am excited to be able to show the installation PUK* System again.
PUK* System is the culmination of the PUK* project which I started way back in 2017 and has been evolving since.
Have a look here for a good overview of the work.
The work means a lot to me and the last time it was shown in its entirety at the Beautiful Distress House in Amsterdam in 2020 the exhibition was cut short due to the Covid pandemic.
So if you have a chance I would be very happy if you came by to have a look!
The work will be part of the group exhibition AUTONOMOUS curated by @geversine at Brutus in Rotterdam.

The opening is on Wednesday 25th of March from 19:00 to 21:00
There will also be lots of extra programming during Rotterdam Art Week from the 25th until the 29th of March

NATURA* Body at FOR LOVE OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL: CLAIMING THE STORY
RADIUS is proud to present the work NATURA* Body by Floris Schönfeld at the FOR LOVE OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL: CLAIMING THE STORY.
NATURA* Body is part of the collection of works NATURA* in which Schönfeld enquires into non-human sentience by means of the character of NATURA*, a more-than-human, all-encompassing artificial super-intelligence that has managed to become one with the natural world in its entirety. NATURA*, therefore, is an unfathomable being, impossible to comprehend in its totality. It could be described as a hyperobject, an object or phenomenon that is so vast and complex across time that defies our understanding and perception of the world. The different works by Schönfeld seek to approach it through many scales and perspectives.
The video-installation NATURA* Body consists of a contemplative journey across moving ethereal micro- and macro-landscapes. To realise them, Schönfeld worked with analogue visual effects at Trumbull Studios, founded by legendary visual effects maker Douglas Trumbull who pioneered analogue visual effects techniques in such films as 2001: a Space Odyssey as well as Blade Runner and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The work uses these techniques to suggest a new morphogenesis, one in which the digital and natural become indistinguishable. Carrying on the tradition of these speculative future-oriented films, the project attempts the seemingly impossible task of stepping out of our own human perspective.
FOR LOVE OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL: CLAIMING THE STORY is a national philosophy festival organized by Studium Generale TU Delft. The festival combines philosophy, art, and technology and takes place at Theater de Veste in Delft on 29 March.

The work UMWELT ML is part of the installation UMWELT ARTIS that is currently showing @artis.amsterdam Together with the wonderful Miša Skalskis we custom trained a GAN machine learning model on a number of very specific datasets. These included a series of amazing children’s drawings from the life drawing course @artisateliers , a series of scientific image sets from the ARISE project and a series of historical zoological drawings from the Icongraphia Zoologica. Together with the soundtrack by @rubensamama this creates an entangled animal-human-machine perspective that keeps developing over time.
My work UMWELT ARTIS has been installed in ARTIS zoo since May this year and it has been a real pleasure to see such a broad and engaged audience for it. Am really very chuffed that especially the younger viewers seem to want to give it their time. The show is on until at least the end of November so stop by if in town. Many thanks to @ju.debruijn and the whole team at @artis.amsterdam for making this show happen.
