[Modular Seoul — lull~Yuyeong / 2023]
Key Visual design for Modular Seoul's live performance piece 'lull~Yuyeong'. First debuting at the Yeowoorak festival hosted by the National Theatre of Korea based in Seoul, 'lull~Yuyeong' is a sound performance piece that focuses on the 4 dharmic instruments found in Korean Buddhism. The image reflects the motifs of the 'Beomjong' (Temple Bell), 'Beopgo' (Dharma drum), 'Mokeo' (Wooden Fish), and 'Unpan' (Cloud gong).
Also featuring fish graphics balancing each other, showing the cycle of life as well as the main theme behind the vocalization by the great priest Inmuk for the performance.
[Gyojung End of Year Party / 2023]
Poster design for @gyojung_official end of year party. Festive, light, 1000% pastel. Mostly a reference to those cheesy new year / holiday cards & graphics trying to look upscale.
Fun fact: I got the date wrong on the final poster 🫠
[Party Poster / 2023]
Poster Design celebrating the 5th anniversary party of Busan based independent venue Ovantgarde, by Channel 1969. Featuring a 'Hwahwan'.
When congratulations or condolences are in order, sometimes a public gesture is necessary. And in Korea, sending a 'Hwahwan' (화환), a massive arrangement of plastic flowers, palm fronds and ribbons printed in massive text is the norm.
A ubiquitous part of the Korean landscape, one can spot these massive displays of plastic in the back of motorbikes being transported all across the city, or littering storefronts, wedding ceremonies and even funerary halls.
Fun fact: these are even available for same day delivery.
[Telecine / 2023]
Poster design for Telecine Vol.1. The design references the 'Head Leader' found in older film footage, with static noise added akin to those tube tv static.
[Textures / 2023]
Digital collage. Another textural piece that was made for a poster, but looks much better without any type on it. Heavy on the RGB colors and experimenting with different the quality of different textures when layered together & the resulting visual phenomena. Also mashing complementary colors together always results in a win.
[Meotjinsaeng Album Release / 2024]
Poster design for @meotjinsaeng_official album release show back in 2024. Trying to create rhythm & tension while maintaining simplicity is honestly one of the biggest challenges. But sometimes when executed well, simplicity can be very powerful & elegant. Especially in this poster's intended context: a digital poster amidst the deafening flurry of social media images.
[Dynafit / 2021]
Key visual design for the sportswear brand Dynafit (Korea). Featuring at the time their brand new line of sneakers series 'Corespur'. Zero stress, anti gravity, full on neon green. The visuals were eventually translated to storefront designs and assets that were rolled out all over the domestic stores including the flagship based in Gangnam.
[음 Eum / 2019]
Poster design for artist Jeeyoung Shim's solo exhibition showcasing the results of her work from her residency in Seoul. The poster's main artwork is derived from Shim's paintings, paired with the word '음‘ (Eum) which means sound.
[Gyjoung 'Water' / 2023]
Cover Atwork for @gyojung_official 's single 'Water'.
The cover features golden shapes reminiscent of a dragon's face, which in Korean lore (at least in my mind) is closely tied to aquatic themes. Also a swimming pool background, because water.
