We had to say goodbye to Magnus this week. Hard to put into words what he meant to me and my family, but he was a wonderful companion and supportive presence. And had the capacity to be a holy terror, even as he aged. We miss him dearly.
The gent who sat down next to me took the day off work to check this off his bucket list. As a kid, he had a neighbor who got to visit the wiener mobile. All he wanted was a wiener whistle. That planted a seed that was finally harvested today. Live your dreams, folks.
Food tastes better in the wild. Chicken-fried Sandhill crane breast. Chipotle based seasoning in with flour cooked on a griddle covered in bacon grease, cooked medium rare. Often called the “Ribeye of the sky” for its resemblance to beef.
Cougar loin, previously frozen to kill trichinosis, basted with bacon grease, generously seasoned. #tasteslikepork We ate well in the Yaak.
