Artist Spotlight: Petrikor (Destroy Planet Earth, Coterminous, ADR)
~Petrichor (/ˈpɛtrɨkɔər/) is the scent of rain on dry earth, or the scent of dust after rain. The word is constructed from Greek, petros, meaning stone + ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology~
Anthony Medrano, aka Petrikor, arrived on Earth in a burning crash on June 2nd, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. At an early age he was influenced by certain sounds in hip-hop, RnB, and disco, but was always attracted to the consistent pulse of house music. Growing tired of the more "commercial sound", he delved deeper into electronic music in his teens. He attended his first rave in 2009 and quickly fell in love with the music, art, and people surrounding these gatherings. After a few years he was inspired to develop his own vision to share with everyone within rave culture.
In 2013 he started performing at events playing alongside local talent and international headliners alike. Petrikor's sound is a dark, driving, hypnotic, fast paced dance session heavily influenced by acid, industrial, and minimal styles. And as of 2017, he curates events for Destroy Planet Earth across Southern California.
