With a lot of hard work and an incredible team, the Diner is nearly ready for service! Official opening day is Monday, April 27th, you guys are going to love this joint, come hungry, leave happy. #goodfood #charlottesgotalot #clteats #charlotteeats #restaurantphotography
This badass lady left us a week ago and the world feels a little less fun without her āwhat a force she was. An incredible human, the very best mom, and someone who lived many different lives with grit, grace, and that unforgettable beaming smile. No matter what curveballs life hurled her way, she met them head-on with a can-do attitude and style. She is already so deeply missed and will forever be remembered with love, laughter, and warmth by everyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Join us as we laugh, remember, and celebrate her life this Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4:00ā8:00 PM. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home,āØ1420 North Main Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
2025 was a busy year. Here are some of my favorite shots. If youād like to see more, check out the website where there is a larger gallery from 2025. Thank you to all my clients and friends. Hereās to more photoshoots, more good food, good times, good travel and good friends! Cheers!

Last year Lesley and I decided that we wanted to try the National Park quest. One where you visit all of the US National Parks in your lifetime. Well, at the end of October Lesley, Rosie (my MIL) and I went on trip to Utah and managed to knock out the Big 5, as they are called, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef. We also hit 5 Utah State Parks, Goblin Valley, Little Wild Horse Canyon, Kodachrome Basin, Coral Pink Sand Dunes and Dead Horse Point. We ended up driving 1814 miles and also drove thru or on the La Sal Mountains National Forest, Dixie National Forest, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Scenic Highway 12 and the Burr Trail! And we ended our trip in the Navajo Nation at Monument Valley. Crazy awesome trip and I cant believe we managed to do all of that in a week. Every place was amazing and all had great things about them. All were accommodating for Rosie and her limited range. While Lesley and I did a few short hikes, most of this was done thru scenic viewpoints and just stopping along the road. I would highly recommend this trip for any one of all ages. I would skip the Utah pie trail tho, we hit 3 spots and each one was disappointing. And skip Zion during the week or the summer.
Total of 6 National Parks in 2025!

The end of an era. Charlotte Magazine has stopped publishing. Didnāt have that on my 2025 bingo card (letās face it, not much that is happening these days was on our bingo cards).
To say I was shocked to hear the news is an understatement. I was in the middle of shooting a story for the January issue, which is our big annual Restaurant issue, when I got the text to give Jane a call. The news hit me hard⦠Iāve spent nearly half of my career shooting photos for this magazine. I hadnāt done that math before, and that came as a surprise. 15 years near as I can tell. The earliest assignment I can find is 2009, and that feels about right. My first cover was either that year or 2012. It has been a privilege and an honor to shoot for this magazine. The stories Iāve helped tell, the people Iāve met, the sheer impact to businesses I have helped feature. Many of the folks Iāve shot for the magazine ended up as lifelong friends.
I am proud to have helped tell the story of Charlotte as it grows into a world-class city. As you may know ,most of my focus was on the culinary scene. And what a scene it is. From a restaurant that only served ingredients from a 100 mile radius, to old time institutions, to Michelin recognized chefs and, really, everything in between! Iāll miss this annual January issue and all the future January issues, where I always got to visit the Cityās top restaurants. Iāll miss the special issues like the one on tacos, where I was FORCED to visit and try over 20 taco spots in Charlotte. Such a sacrifice. (I do love my job!)
But itās not just the chefs and the food stories, itās the amazing people Iāve worked with. First and foremost, THANK YOU to Jane Fields for always trusting me. Some of you may have seen us bicker on set just like a brother and sister, because we always strived to create something special, we got to know each other so well, and we knew how to push and get the best from each other. She has kept me as her food photographer during her whole reign as Art Director. Thank you Jane.
Continuing in first comment.......
The November issue of Charlotte Magazine @charlottemag . This could have been my favorite issue to work on. Covering a farming story is nearly as perfect of an assignment as it can get for me. I got to visit and hang out with 4 different farms and farmers, Small City Farm @small_city_farm_charlotte , Deep Roots Farm @deeprootscpsfarm , Boy and Girl Farm @boyandgirlfarm and Urban Gourmet Farms @urbangourmetfarms . Each one was very different from the others. Sure, they are all growing vegetables, but they each had their own personality and flow to the job. This gig did have its own hurdles this past growing season, 30 days of 100 degree weather followed by rain, rain and more rain. But we got it done and here it is. Big shout out of thanks to the farmers who took time out of their very busy schedules to hang out with and my cameras. Many thanks to @jbfields@andysmithclt and @greglacour for always trusting me to nail the visuals for their stories.
As it turns out this is my last cover for the magazine as Charlotte Magazine has ceased publication with the Dec. issue. This is cover #42, as near as I can tell, between the main magazine and the Home and Garden issues. I will make a longer post about this soon.

The last of the veggies for the year. The garden has officially flipped to winter growing, which is basically the same as spring.
This has been a fun project. I shot over 100 kinds of flowers and veggies. I grew over 120 (probably closer to 150) 15 photo shoots from a full day to just over an hour. It's been a great way to bring two of my passions together and create a great record of the year.
Stay tuned next year for even more!

The garden is still going strong and this weirdly cool stretch is helping it recover quite nicely. It's a weird time as I have many fall seedlings started but no space to put them yet as the summer veggies are still producing!

Leluia Hall @leluiahall Another amazing restaurant from the team at Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group! Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown bought the old church/Bonterra restaurant site in Dilworth over 3 years ago and I, like many in the Charlotte dining scene, have been eagerly waiting to see how they would re do the space. I was always a fan of Bonterra and this building and was hoping they would honor the space. And they did! It took a couple of extra years but it is BEAUTIFUL! Seems like Jeff and Jamie really do have that magic touch. Add the culinary and cocktail teams of Executive chef Chris Rogienski, chef de cuisine Cristian Medrano, Pastry chef Savannah Foltz, beverage director and 2025 James Beard semifinalist Colleen Hughes and Rhea Buck and it super stars everywhere you look! I knew I would be going to shoot the restaurant soon and many thanks for Charlotte Magazine @charlottemag for sending me over!

Life goes on and then one day youāve been married for 15 years.
Happy Anniversary to Lesley and I!
15 years today! @thereallesleyt
I couldnāt, wouldnāt, ask for a better partner, traveling buddy or garden helper. We might bicker like itās an Olympic sport, but we always have each others back and are there for whatever is needed. I canāt wait to see what the rest of our lives holds for us. No matter where the journey takes us we will be together.
