HAAM currently supports 3000+ working musicians, DJ’s, and music teachers in the Austin area, and has assisted over 7,500 musicians in gaining access to affordable healthcare services since its inception. Featuring performances by the award-winning experimental ensemble Thor & Friends (2026 Austin Music Awards Best Experimental), local favorite lovesick crooners Gummy Fang (2026 Austin Music Awards Best New Act nominees!), lo-fi indie supergroup Important Group (composed of members from Being Dead, Punching Bag), and psychedelic power-pop savants Quinn Decker and the LLC (also known from Grandmaster, Billy Glitter). The next New Music Thursday is set for Thursday, 2/5. Kickin' off the show we have The Answers. Founded in 2018, The Answers were formed by Gavin Watts (Cougar Island, The Reformers), Lauren Grant (drums), and Matt Anderson (bass) in Austin, TX. The band originally bonded over their love of visual arts backgrounds which eventually bled into the creation of their hook-laden art-rock songs. Up next, we have Pseudo Desnudo. A 5-piece band playing an eclectic mix of art-punk, goth rock, and hypnagogic pop. They have nearly 100 recordings on Bandcamp, so be sure to hop over and check out their extremely diverse catalog. And last but certainly not least, we have resident Electric Church musician, Patrick McNally, and we're featuring his self titled release. Here at The Electric Church, we love to write about an album’s opening track, and the opener on this album "Talent" is no exception. This song starts with a hypnotic acoustic riff, followed by wave after wave of distortion to flush it out. Then in a demonstration of restraint, the curtain is pulled back to make way for Patrick's soft but cutting vocals. This track effortlessly soothes the soul into submission by continuously returning to the riff that started it all.
