Gas prices are hitting record highs and neither major party has an answer for the skyrocketing cost of living.
Trump promised to end wars and lower prices for U.S. workers. The Democrats promised to fight back against Trump’s austerity measures. They beg for our votes every two years and nothing ever improves.
We need a new system. We need a new society. We need socialism!

🌟 PSL Chicago is proud to announce our endorsement of @bslforcongress !
The right wing is moving full steam ahead with wars both abroad and on our communities, while the Democrats sit by and watch. It is more clear than ever that we need independent political alternatives to the 2-Party system!
Independent socialist, educator, organizer, and current alder of the 25th Ward, Byron is a true fighter for the working class. Byron consistently fights for the people in City Hall and takes to the streets with the masses of oppressed and working people to demand and build a new system.
🖊️ As Byron works to get on the ballot, thousands of signatures are needed as part of a system meant to box out any third party candidates. If you’re interested in joining us in our efforts to petition for signatures across the 4th District, join the Telegram link in our bio!
✊🏾From the ballots to the streets, we need an independent socialist movement!
END RACIST POLICE TERROR‼️
Last night, Illinois State Police officers killed Jalen Carpenter in West Woodlawn. Stanley Carpenter, his father said, “They shot him multiple times in the head…He had so many bullets we couldn’t even view the body.”
Carpenter was a beloved father and an Amazon worker.
Very little information about the South Side shooting has been made public, and ISP is responsible for investigating themselves, as they are not subject to the same public oversight as CPD. ISP was deployed by Governor Pritzker to suppress protests outside of the Broadview ICE Facility during Operation Midway Blitz.
✊🏾 Join us to commemorate African Liberation Day and learn about the revolution taking place in West Africa and its implications for the global struggle against imperialism.

🌍 For decades, the countries of Africa’s Sahel region have been targets of colonialism and exploitation by France and other Western powers. ‘Sahel: Homeland or Death’ explores the popular resistance and new development paths forged by Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali after experiencing people’s uprisings in recent years.
On Saturday, Chicagoans picketed and blocked entry to a Bridgeport Amazon facility. They brought attention to the struggle to demand the state legislature act to tax Jeff Bezos and take action against Amazon’s abusive workplace and community practices.
We stand with the community, Amazon workers, and taxpayers who demand Amazon pay their fair share. We believe services like those provided by Amazon should be used for the public good, not private profit.
Yesterday, Jalen Carpenter’s family, friends and community members gathered to commemorate what should have been his 25th birthday. His father and aunt spoke about what Jalen meant to them and his whole family and community.
We continue to demand justice for Jalen and the immediate arrest of the police involved, especially after the release of the video footage which clearly shows they executed Jalen in cold blood. We continue to fight for a world free of police terror and murder.
AI-powered surveillance systems threatening our communities, massive CPS cuts, and yet another Paul Vallas corruption scandal — here are some news stories you may have missed this week.
Today the Woodlawn community commemorated Jalen Carpenter’s 25th birthday. Jalen was shot twelve times in the back and head by Illinois State Police on April 15, in a cold-blooded street execution.
Today, police released footage of Jalen’s murder after pressure from the family and community. We demand the offending officers be arrested immediately and charged with murder! Justice for Jalen Carpenter!!
THIS WEEKEND: Join us as we petition to put socialism on the ballot!
Unlike the Democrats and the Republicans, independent candidates need at least 10,819 signatures to get on the ballot due to a system rigged in the corporate duopoly’s favor. Join us across Pilsen and Bridgeport as we talk to people across the 4th District about the need for an independent socialist candidate for Congress!

UIC grad student workers kicked off week three of their strike with an action outside of JB Pritzker’s Chicago office.
As governor, Pritzker is on the University of Illinois Board of Trustees and is responsible for appointing others to the board, most recently his brother-in-law. Pritzker has thus far remained silent on the strike. He must be too busy handing out government positions to his family members!
We tabled at last night’s @carsieblanton show to spread the word about the PSL Action Network!
The PSL Action Network is a way for everyone to get involved in building the socialist movement.
Every month, members of the Action Network receive materials (via physical mail and/or email) to use in daily conversations about the pressing political issues of the day. Action Network members also receive invitations to monthly webinars where we discuss political updates, and calls to action to help build the movement. Finally, Action Network members make a monthly financial contribution to support the growth of the socialist movement in every town and city across the country.
We invite you to join the PSL Action Network and invite your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors to do the same! pslweb.org/action
Join us as we commemorate the life of community member Jalen Carpenter on what would be his 25th birthday, after he was brutally murdered by Illinois State Police on April 16.
🗓️ Friday, May 15
⏰ 7:00 P.M.
📍 First Presbyterian Church (6400 S Kimbark Ave.)
The police and the corporate media have been hiding the names of the two officers who killed him, in an attempt to cover up the murder. We demand that the names of these officers and the body cam footage of this police assassination be released to the public immediately. We will come together, and we will fight against this racist system and demand justice for Jalen Carpenter.
