Weeks posts
Well if this ends up being my last time at #PSEWeb, I’m glad I got to share the stage with my girl @cadiedekelver , one of my first higher-ed friends @krista.boniface and my Irish #higheredsocial pal @theirishmants for We Listen and We Don’t Judge: Social Media Unplugged panel @pseweb last week. It was also an honour to accept @sakhmeth proposal to join the planning team this year and step behind the #PSEWeb socials for the year with my student turned master Cadie. Higher Ed Communications has been passion of mine since I was a Don back at Brock more than twenty years ago. Being part of the #PSEWeb community has given me so much over the years. It gave me friends across Canada, industry respect I wasn’t sure I’d ever find and confidence that replaced the imposter syndrome so many of us often feel. This conference and community has always inspired me, refreshed my passion and perspective. It’s given me incredible relationships and afforded me numerous opportunities that I may not have found or taken otherwise. This year the conference was as a bit different for me, because I knew there was a chance it could be my last, as two weeks before the conference I found out the role I’ve been in for the last 10 years will be victim to the ongoing cuts in Canadian colleges. While a bit awkward in moments, being around all of you last week was something I truly needed. I need to remember my value and be reminded why I still love what I do. Thank you to the entire planning team who welcomed me in this year. Thank you to everyone who I’ve connected with this year and over and the years, it has truly been a pleasure. I hope I will find myself back with you again next summer, but if not, thank you for all of the kindness, wisdom, laughter and fun. I don’t think i could have a found a better professional group to be part of. Much love, Sarah

Memories of #PSEWeb 2023 @pseweb in beautiful Victoria on @universityofvictoria campus. First time presenting at and attending this excellent annual conference in person. Good times! This year I’m watching #PSEWeb2024 online and learning loads.

PSEWEB UVIC šŸŽ™ļø None of this #VictoriaBC work-cation would be possible without the opportunity provided by @pseweb conference! It was a wonderful time learning and presenting alongside my colleague Shauna to a wider higher education professional audience. šŸ“± From our talk on ā€œCultivating a Community from Collaborationā€ to many other presentations, it was a great way to meet new friends and professionals from around the world. The setting of @universityofvictoria was breathtaking and the presentations were enlightening. I will be forever grateful for this experience. 🧔 Thank you #PSEWEB2023 #UVic

The selfies, the sunsets, the smiles, the (patio) sessions: @pseweb was a whole week ago but the memories live on. Until next year, #PSEWeb!

#PSEWeb2023 in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia — what an incredible way to spend last week! šŸ”ļø From talks covering web accessibility, to google analytics, to making trending & relevant social content and beyond, all of the speakers did an outstanding job! @gemmma.spad and I were fortunate enough to be selected to represent McMaster University and present on our topic ā€œBuild from Withinā€ which focused on outlining cross campus collaboration, establishing frameworks and processes, and working towards shared goals. We are so proud with how the talk went & the engaging and thought provoking questions we received from our guests. And of COURSE we want to recognize the incredible PSEWeb team that put on an amazing conference, as well as the University of Victoria for their hospitality & hosting the conference. Thank you to everyone involved and we hope to be back for #PSEWeb2024 ā˜ŗļø #HigherEducation #VictoriaBC #WorkConference

Yesterday was my first conference presentation flying solo! Thank you @pseweb and @universityofvictoria for hosting a wonderful conference where I got to proudly rep @uoft / @uoftalumni and talk about my favourite topic - Instagram metrics and content! I met so many inspiring and smart communications people, learned a lot of new marketing tips, and explored a beautiful new city. I went whale watching, toured the beautiful campus, ate vegan around downtown Victoria, stayed out way too late with new and old friends, and enjoyed the Butchart Gardens. #PSEWEB was a bop! āœØšŸ’“šŸ„³
