“Change is Okay” — A movement narrative that depicts the complexities of growing in and out of relationships. Many friendships are naturally formed through proximity and shared commitments. Various communities such as school, sports, or work can be fruitful spaces for meeting new people in different seasons of our lives. Yet when our obligations shift and our values begin to change, how do these transitions affect us? Do we hold onto past versions of ourselves for the sake of cherishing those times? How do we kindly and gently grow into the next stages of our lives, recognizing that change is inevitable, learning that change is okay? Really wanted to push myself in creating an intentional, visual movement video. Here is something fun and lighthearted for your timeline. Context behind the intention: Been questioning and challenging myself a lot this year on my intentions behind choreography. Even taking a step back from teaching because I realized that it wasn’t about wanting to actually teach and that I just wanted to create. Even in the midst of just creating, I sometimes felt a sense of emptiness because it’s just showcasing moves. So that’s how I ended up here. Not saying that I won’t ever post regular choreo vids, but this is an effort to create more depth with my work in visuals and storytelling. If you made it this far, I appreciate you. It’s my honest process as an artist. To my amazing cast, thank you for making it so easy for me to be a creative.
