this is an excerpt from a song i started writing in early february. i’ve been trying to write with better direction and focus on what i’m actually trying to say. it was written before elmiene’s “lonely people” was released, but now, i finally have a melodic foundation because of that song. i wanted to find a way to address some of the terrors ringing from our four corners lately, the war both civil and international, and where it’s been all leaving me emotionally.

i went to atlanta this past weekend and had an amazing time. the main event was the frank ocean themed night at drunken unicorn (10/10 experience), but i got to check out some of my friend’s favorite spots and have some really good conversations about film cameras, community, culture, music, hobbies, etc. i had planned to only check out crates atl but mason brought me to criminal records and moods music. amazing record stores and have so much variety. we also went to wok chi (chinese cuisine) #absolutely, and spriggs took me to 2wthrift. right before i left i met a mutual from ig at a gelato shop and it was such good conversation. oh! and i almost forgot mason and i went to church (a bar) and played ping pong! it was sooo fun. it felt really easy to connect with people, and i felt like i belonged there, amidst the spirits. spirits being both beautiful souls and the alcohol-influenced atmospheres. i can’t wait to go back.
