SEEN–Around the World was a powerful hybrid symposium spotlighting the work of women and non-binary designers in type and graphic design.
Part of the research project „UN/SEEN: Innovative Women in Graphic Design 1865–1919 & Today” (
@unseen.women.design ), led by the amazing Prof. Dr. Isabel Naegele (
@isabel_naegele ), Prof. Dr. Petra Eisele (
@petra_eisele ), Dr. Aliena Guggenberger, and Julia Neller (
@julia.neller ), the event brought together over 30 speakers from North and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania. 💫
Moderated across three days by Flávia Nalon, and the wonderful Julia Kahl (
@slanted_publishers ) and Anja Lutz (
@anjalutz_artbooks ), the symposium created space for honest and inspiring exchanges of perspectives across generations, geographies, and design cultures. Through live talks, panel discussions, and recorded interviews, shared both on-site and online, it offered a truly global conversation.
A bold highlight: the „Flags with a Message“ exhibition, featuring typographic statements designed by students from the Communication Design Department at Hochschule Mainz (
@hsm.kommunikationsdesign ).
What an honour to be part of this and to be surrounded by the power of these women. Can’t thank enough for the opportunity and trust! I truly hope the connections built there will grow and multiply ❤️🔥.
And a special thank you to the lovely students in pink T-shirts: your warmth, kindness, and energy behind the scenes made everything flow.
