An exciting day in Oak Cliff! We’re excited to have the Concurrence Art Show with @tuesdazeurban kick off at 3PM inside @barroeastdock , but before then, stop by the opening days of @halperinpark and @kuluntubakery 🌱✨💘🍞🛝
In the 1950s, the construction of I-35 displaced many families and fractured long-standing community connections throughout this part of Dallas. Halperin Park was envisioned as a space to help reconnect what was divided and create room for gathering, reflection, and community again.
It’s incredibly meaningful to see the park open alongside so many businesses at East Dock beginning to open their doors. From food and coffee to retail, wellness, art, and community spaces, it’s inspiring to watch this historic campus come to life through the people building it together.
Come spend the day exploring Oak Cliff, supporting local businesses, and experiencing all the creativity unfolding across the neighborhood!
There’s something really special about watching an old building come back to life. Thank you, Tommie Ethington, for your words about The Madison Hotel!
The Madison was originally built in 1926 and has quietly carried nearly a century of Oak Cliff history within its walls, including its connection to Lee Harvey Oswald and one of the most talked about moments in Dallas history.
When we first walked this property, it had been heavily damaged by fire and years of neglect. It would have been much easier to walk away from it. Instead, we felt deeply called to preserve it and honor the story already here.
Today, the 27 room hotel has been thoughtfully restored with the hope that people can slow down, stay awhile, and experience a piece of Oak Cliff history for themselves.
We’re honored to see the story of The Madison being shared in this new article. Give it a read, book a stay, and come experience Oak Cliff through a place that has seen so much life over the last 100 years.

Introducing The Roscoe!
901–911 W Jefferson Blvd | Est. 1912
Long before this building stood, the site was home to Briggs Sanitarium in the late 1800s, a 52 room retreat known for its “healthy air” overlooking Oak Cliff. The Sanitarium was for the treatment of tuberculosis. After a devastating fire in 1909, the land sat quiet for several years, still referred to as the Briggs property in early records.
In the early 1900s, this two story brick building rose in its place, designed with storefronts below and offices and studios above. Over the decades, it became a neighborhood staple, home to a long line of pharmacies, grocers, hardware shops, cafés, and small local businesses that shaped daily life in Oak Cliff.
The name “The Roscoe” nods to Roscoe Gass Pharmacy, one of the many drugstores that anchored this corner for years.
More than a century later, it remains one of Oak Cliff’s most intact early commercial buildings, continuing to grow alongside the community it’s always served.
We’re excited to share more about the space and the people bringing it to life ✨
More people should get to follow their dreams and own businesses in their neighborhood, and @east.dock is making it happen! I wa super inspired by @ajramler and the team at @proxyproperty for all the hard work they’re putting into these formerly blighted spaces. If you’re interested in seeing more examples like this, follow @incrementaldev and check out their field trip!

East Dock is just the container — the real magic is the people inside it!
Each business here is independently built, with its own story, its own rhythm, and its own community behind it.
We’ll host arts programming and open the doors, but what makes this place special is the folks choosing to create something here!
Go wander, step inside, and show them some love 🤍
This photo, likely from the 1940s, shows a Dallas streetcar moving along Jefferson Blvd in front of the Oak Cliff United Methodist Church, now The Jefferson!
Streetcars began running in Dallas in the 1870s, first as horse-drawn cars before becoming electric in 1891. Early cars were open-air, later evolving into enclosed streetcars that ran through Oak Cliff for decades, serving the city until their final run on January 15, 1956.
For years, this corridor was a vital thread of connection between Oak Cliff and Downtown. The Texas Theatre (@texastheatre ), which opened in 1931, would have experienced 25 years of that daily movement right outside its doors.
As we begin restoring this historic building, we keep coming back to that same spirit, thinking about how to create a place that feels alive, connected, and rooted in the neighborhood once again. ✨

It’s been 4 years since @proxyproperty restored The Oak Cliff Assembly!
This project stretched and grew our team, connected us with some of our earliest community partners, and became the starting place for @artwalkoakcliff !
Today, it’s home to over 25 organizations, businesses, and individuals, each shaping the space in their own way.
We’re so grateful for everyone who has walked through the doors and helped make this place what it is. 🌱✨🎨🥹
