Nathan Bartman

Nathan is a dancer, choreographer and musician from South Africa, co-founder of MANACAN, and an award-winning artist whose work has toured internationally.
Anna Des Clayes
@communitasdance
Anna is a choreographer and facilitator creating participatory dance work with a focus on community, storytelling and social connection.
Anthar Kharana

Anthar is a Colombian-born musician, composer and sound practitioner bringing rich live sound and ceremonial influence to performance.
Ramin Imantalab

Ramin is an Iranian-born multidisciplinary artist specialising in music, painting and calligraphy. He has collaborated with Protein since 2021, contributing as a participant, team member and guest artist.

About the Project
Winner of
@thestageuk Awards – Community Project of the Year (2023)
Bringing together an ensemble of participants from across the world, the project unfolds over an intensive three-week residency at The Place Theatre. Participants collaborate with Protein’s artists to sing, dance, share stories and express both individual journeys and collective resilience.
As part of Protein Dance’s Real Life Real Dance programme, the project aims to engage and empower through a performance-led, collaborative approach rooted in real-life experiences.
