Black Edelweiss is a performance about the invisibilization of the monster and the baddie within dominant white spaces. It explores the shift between being unseen and being glorified for oneโs difference. These two positions may appear opposite, yet they lead to the same result: role projection and ultimately dehumanization.
The work is a testimony of inhabiting the figure of the Other. Using the camera and the phone as both tool and world, I point the lens at the audience and then at myself, recording them as they watch me. This gesture reverses the gaze and asserts awareness. I see what you are doing.
Black Edelweiss unfolds through body and movement as a tale of presence, perception, and the struggle to remain human within systems that define and frame the self.
