I think one of the biggest misconceptions about property investing is that people do it because they “love houses”.
For me, it was never really about the houses.
It was about creating a life that felt bigger than just work.
When I worked in my corporate job, I worked incredibly hard… but honestly, it felt like life was passing me by. I even cancelled my second date with my now husband because I had to work late!
I was constantly exhausted, stressed and living for weekends and annual leave.
So I redirected that same work ethic into building something for myself instead.
And over time, property gave me something I’d never really had before:
Choice.
The choice to homeschool my children.
The choice to travel more.
The choice to slow down a little.
The choice to build my days around my life… not just my work.
And honestly, that’s still one of the things I’m most grateful for 💛

From 1 May, the rules change for landlords. Here’s what that actually means in practice:
✨ Section 21 is being removed
You’ll need a valid legal ground to regain possession.
✨ All tenancies become periodic
Most existing ASTs automatically move to rolling tenancies from 1 May.
✨ Rent increases limited
Once per year, with at least 2 months’ notice using the correct process.
✨ You must consider pet requests
You can’t unreasonably refuse them.
✨ Restrictions on rent upfront
Limits on requesting large amounts upfront to get around affordability checks.
This is just phase one - more changes are coming, so it’s worth understanding this early.
If you’ve got tenants in place already, this isn’t one to ignore.
