“We are very drunk” opening line. Love it. A reference to Inglorious Bastards, the character Aldo, killing nazis, “Zionist bastard film maker”. The tone was set!
Opening song started slow with octave driving leads from guitar and atmospheric drums to slow pace, a false sense of security, distortion cracks in, tempo ups, my neck starts hurting. Is it age? No. It’s Proof Of Failure. “Nazi Bastards” is the theme of this one, the crowd rejoice and mosh pit commences. Great opener.
Dead Kennedys cover of California Uber Alez kept the pit open but not for long, perhaps the crowd aren’t quite ready for the pandemonium yet. The vocals are harsh in the best complimentary way. The snarl from the bassist cut sharp alongside the phenomenal mid-range tone.
Small break to talk facism within the UK government before breaking into a cleaner arpegiated contrast to prior material. Once again, I was wrong. The distortion came back and it sliced through the room. Part way through the set guitar and bass switched places. I knew this was going to have impact. Wasn’t wrong. Powerful vocals, fast, abrasive. Fast angry punk. Joke about mic stands being changed and height followed by crowd shouting “Size doesn’t matter” innuendos.
Great Britain National Socialists now called out. A song in tribute (or suppose more a mockery). This one was FAST. The energy was there in crowd potential but felt lacking, felt circle pit worthy!
Cover of The Clash to follow and the sea of smiles across everyone’s faces following the heavier faster numbers creates a sense of unity to all.
Their second last song was adrenaline, crowd mosh until exhaustion, not far of thrash, group vocals of screeches simply incredible.
“Viva Palastina” finale called for a jumpy crowd end number a great finisher. Crowd erupted into great dance. Anthemic chorus “Viva, Viva, Palastina!” The crowd shouts back. A sense of unity between the crowd and band.
Proof Of Failure stand out in the grassroots punk scene, can see them leading the revolution it leads. Very down to earth people!
Another pending artist doing Scotland proud for review on the horizon next week is Proof Of Failure @proof.of.failure and let me say now if you like your punk rock with meaning and standing by a fighting cause, this is one you’ll not want to miss if local to Edinburgh!

(Proof of Failure are a young political punk band from across Scotland, they started out at the beginning of 2025 and began things with a debut tour in April, including a sold out Glasgow show.
Since then they have played many shows in Scotland. They ensure their activism is not removed from their music, and set up a protest show alongside Show Israeli Genocide The Red Card outside of the Ovo Hydro, when far-right Zionist David Draiman performed.
They also put on a sold out charity show with all profits going to the Hebron international resource network in the West Bank.)

I think we broke him lads.
Hopefully it will make him have a think about his abhorrent views and how we don't welcome them in Scotland. We also hope venues like the @ovohydro will think again before booking a supporter of genocide. And @john_swinney_snp you haven't heard the last of us.
