jackie skates so i can walk around, take photos, and try not to piss off all of the geese that are looking for mates. all the while, thanking the beautiful Arapahoe land and making wishes to the sky…forgetting i brought 3 different books to read, so i sit and lose track of her. never enough time before the sun winds down. photos taken on Fuji X-E1

hi everybody! after losing my winter break to my shit health, i am having a slow recovery, likely need to take a semester off during my thesis year, and I wanted to boost my gofundme again so i can take more time off from work and research. i've been really struggling to make ends meet and to make things accessible at home. any share and any help means the world to me (link in bio). also, all my love and thanks to anyone who has cared enough to donate. thank you all for almost meeting my first goal, but given it is my first gofundme, i messed up with the goal, lol My goal is actually 5,000. gofund.me/king.heal.drum all my blessings, ash

please read my gofundme and consider sharing/donating. i am recovering from surgery and too sick to write more, but it’s all there (it’s kind of a long story, but i tried very hard to be brief) (link in my story and comments. sorry, i’ve never made one of these before for myself)

As some of you may already know, I’m a queer disabled graduate student and researcher in the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado Denver with a concentration in Health & Society. Under mentorship at CU Anschutz, I am now recruiting for my own research study examining the healthcare and social experiences of LGBTQIA+ adults with disabilities! If you are 18+, LGBTQIA+, have a disability(s), and have ever faced barriers in healthcare services and resources, felt unheard, felt stigmatized or looked down upon, or simply just want to share what better care could look like for yourself and your community, I want to hear from you. Through one-on-one compensated and de-identified interviews, I’ll listen to your story about health needs and experiences with health services. I aim to understand, analyze, and document your lived experience and personal recommendations for changes/interventions in your care and experience with health services from a sociological, health equity-informed lens. Your voice matters and can help shape better, more inclusive, and less stigmatizing healthcare experiences for our communities, while simultaneously helping shape scholarly knowledge/understanding around your unique experiences as an LGBTQIA-disabled individual. Your interview will be de-identified, encrypted, and all transcriptions and academic writing will use fake names in place of your name. Participation is entirely voluntary, but if selected, you will be compensated with a $25 gift card of your choice at the time of interviewing. If you are interested, please check out the flyer and scan the QR code to be directed to more information and the screening form. feel free to share my flyer with any contacts that come to mind when reading about my study, or simply share here on IG (which helps a ton). This study is open to any self-identifying LGBTQIA+ disabled adult (18-75 years old) in the U.S., and interviews are conducted via Zoom, so I’m trying to reach people across the U.S. Thank you for taking time to read about my study! This has been in the works for over 3 years & i’m excited to share with you all that it’s finally happening! (Alt Text in comments)

celebrating 3 years of a cosmic love that still feels too good to be true…and it’s all thanks to a mutual love of kate bush and various shoegaze bands on twitter. :’) jackie is such a light in this life and the brightest star to me. she is perhaps the purest woman in the world. she is just so so incredibly kind natured and full of tenderness and optimism. i am so fortunate to live every day with someone who fills me to the brim with love and makes life so much more vibrant. from the most exciting things, such as David Byrne’s Theatre of the Mind being our first real date, black midi being the first show i took her to see, our road trips, going to cruel world fest, the cure (x2…also 7th row), santa fe, and then hollywood through the eyes of David Lynch—to the everyday mundane of our daily routines—everything is so much more wonderful and beautiful and so exciting all the time since Jackie entered my life. we just moved into our second apartment!! i simply can’t wait to see where life takes us next, but for now, i’ll just bask in your glow anytime, anywhere. i love you, honeydew. happy anniversary 🖤🌟

my band, tender object, put out a record as our gift to you before we say farewell. it’s 16 minutes of energy charged-post punk about the critiques i feel towards society, commodified versions of love, cop kissers, and the occasional heavens felt between flashes of inevitable demise. its full of narratives/stories i’ve wanted to tell layered on top of music you can dance to. this album encapsulates everything that tender object became and i’m so thankful for the time i got to spend creating this body of art that i am so, so proud of. i hope you enjoy the songs we made. thank you to nick, dj, ian, and of course, adam…for everything. huge, huge thank you to my love, jackie kalmink, for producing it and making it the best version it could be. 💫 finally, thank you to everyone who believed in us, supported us, and saw us play. i’ll always be wishing for more time, but lucky for the time we did have. “occasional heaven” is up on tender object’s bandcamp and the link is in my bio!! 🖤💫🌟

two years ago, i was falling in love with jackie, so i took her to see the autumn colors in the mountains. two years later and i’ve learned that it’s one of the most romantic date ideas i’ve ever had and that there is plenty of magic to spare hidden in these mountains. thankful for our love and all the beautiful places we’ve got to experience it. 💫🖤 love you always, my love. p.s. we still haven’t figured out the peak week for guanella pass. oops
