I didnât feel ready.
I didnât feel qualified.
But I started anyway.
@projectstyleu was never part of some perfect plan. It actually started with me investing in a course that I thought was going to give me everything I neededâŚ
And while it did help meâit just wasnât in the way I expected.
What it did do was open my eyes đ
It showed me what was missing.
It showed me what I needed.
And it showed me what other stylists like me needed too.
So in 2020, I created Project Style University. Not because I had it all figured outâŚBut because I knew I wasnât the only one trying to figure it out.
Since then, Iâve been blessed to help over 200 stylists start, grow, and scale their businesses to profit.
And Iâm just getting started.
If youâve been waiting to feel âreadyââŚ
this is your reminder that you may never feel ready.
But you can still start.

You understand that what you do:
â builds confidence

POV: You stopped boxing yourself in and started evolving as a creative.
Over the past 6 months, I added a new offer to my styling business:
⨠trunk show styling + trunk show curation
And now Iâm managing luxury trunk show experiences, curating spaces, styling clients, leading teams, and learning so much about whatâs possible when you allow yourself to pivot.
A brand that once laid me offâŚ
has now brought me back in a completely different capacity.
Thatâs what happens when you:
⢠continue growing
⢠stay open to pivoting
⢠and trust God enough to evolve
There is so much more you can do in this industry beyond what you initially imagined.
Stop limiting yourself.
There are opportunities out here with your name on them.

I wish more personal stylists understood thisâŚ
You can run a full-time styling business with no income capâ
even if youâre just starting.
But the shift happens when you realize this:
You are not âjustâ a stylist.
You are a:
⨠Problem solver
⨠Confidence builder
⨠Educator
⨠Transformation expert
And once you understand that?
You stop limiting your income to just one-on-one services.
Because not everyone is meant to work with you privatelyâand thatâs okay.
That just means you need more ways to serve.
â Speaking engagements
â Workshops & events
â Content creation
â YouTube + monetization
â Affiliate links + shoppable content
â Brand partnerships
There are so many ways to generate income in this industry.
But it requires you to:
âď¸ Expand your perspective
âď¸ Diversify your expertise
âď¸ And show up beyond just styling clients
This is how you build a business that is sustainable, scalable, and limitless.

Stop playing small with your gifts.
At one point, I treated styling like something I loved⌠but not something that could fully sustain me.
I thought being a stylist meant:
â Putting outfits together
â Cleaning out closets
â Getting clients dressed for events
And while yes, thatâs a part of it⌠thatâs not the full picture.
What I didnât realize at the time was this:
đđ˝ I was saving my clients time.
đđ˝ I was eliminating stress.
đđ˝ I was educating them.
đđ˝ I was helping them build confidence.
đđ˝ I was shifting how they saw themselves.
I was transforming lives.
And once I understood thatâŚeverything changed.
My mindset shifted.
My confidence grew.
And I started treating my work like the real business that it is.
If youâre a stylist still treating your passion like a side hustleâŚthis is your sign to shift.
Because what you do has value. Real value.
And the sooner you see it, the sooner everything else will follow.

Who doesnât love a little #bts?
If you havenât watched my entire Making the Brand episode, this is your sign. Youâll learn a bit more about me, my story and how SCB came about.
Mia was the perfect client because she allowed me to push her out of her comfort zone even after hearing what she didnât (thought) she didnât like lol
Thank you so much to @ctln_network for this experience and creating a comfortable space for me to be me â¤ď¸

If youâre a personal stylist and youâre only showing up on InstagramâŚwe need to talk.
There are 4 other platforms that can position you as an expert and help you connect with your ideal clients on a deeper level:
⨠YouTube
⨠LinkedIn
⨠Threads
⨠Substack
Each one allows you to go beyond aesthetics and actually share your knowledge, your perspective, and your expertise.
Because styling isnât just about putting outfits togetherâŚ
Itâs about how you think.
How you guide.
How you transform your clients.
And these platforms? They give you the space to show that. Start expanding your presence. Your audience is bigger than one app.
Which platform are you ready to take more seriously? đ

Ep. 2 - Sometimes I still suprise myself with all the things that I do but I know that none of it would be possible without God.
Weâre only half way through March and a lot of things that I thought were done are being revived â¨

Almost 13 years in the styling industry has taught me a lotâŚ
Some lessons came from amazing opportunities. Others came from mistakes I had to learn from the hard way.
But there are 5 pieces of advice I believe every personal stylist should hear, especially if youâre building your career as a first-generation stylist:
1ď¸âŁ Donât be afraid to follow up
2ď¸âŁ Donât box yourself in
3ď¸âŁ Never lowball yourself just to get a client
4ď¸âŁ If an opportunity doesnât exist, create it
5ď¸âŁ Always do it scared
This reel is the short version.
If you want the full breakdown and context behind each one, I just uploaded the full video on YouTube.

#heystylists If youâre a personal stylist and you struggle with following up, this is your reminder:
Following up isnât annoying.
Following up is professional.
Most opportunities arenât lost because you werenât talented enough.
Theyâre lost because you didnât follow up đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
And honestly? Thatâs just one of the lessons Iâve learned in almost 13 years in the styling industry.
đđ˝ I just released a new YouTube video where Iâm sharing 5 pieces of advice I believe every first-generation personal stylist should hear, including why following up can completely change your opportunities.

So this was originally supposed to just be a day in the life, but as I was editing it, I thought that I should start sharing more of my day-to-day with yâall in this series called âFounder Filesâ â¨
I feel like most of my days are pretty âboringâ because Iâm literally just doing administrative work and crossing off tasks on my to-do list. But since I really donât share a lot in my stories, I figured this series would be the perfect way for me to share bts lol
Iâm not exactly sure how often I will be sharing these but if yâall like this one, I might just keep it up đ
