10 days ago, retired Military Working Dog “Penge”(A160), graduated our Project K-9 Hero Rehabilitation & Rehoming Facility in Tennessee, after coming to us as his only option from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan 🇯🇵. Here are some photos this week from his new fur-ever home with the Long Family in Florida as an update to all of our supporters that made this happen. We think these shots tell the whole story of how he is enjoying his new life post military service! PK9H, as a national nonprofit organization, want to thank the United States Air Force, MWD Adoptions at Lackland AFB, and the U.S. Government for trusting us with Penge when he absolutely needed our help the most! Thank you to the 238 participants, from 35 states, that raised $14,700.00 today to help keep Yoube’s legacy alive during her second annual 5K! It means the world to myself and to the entire pack at Project K-9 Hero! - #JJK9

We at Project K-9 Hero want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, sponsored, or assisted in any way in today’s K-9 Yoube 5K, whether in person or virtually. The success of this 2nd Annual Event needs to be credited to our 2024 PK9H Volunteer of the Year, Lorrie Huegel! Because of her hardwork and dedication there was a total of 238 participants this year, representing 35 states, where $14,700 was raised for the PK9H Mission. What does life look like for our Heroes now? For MWD Llispeth and MWD Cash, it looks like family photos on the porch, hikes, birthday cupcakes, costumes, couch time, cats, kisses, and finally getting to just be dogs. Llispeth served as an explosive detection dog and is now in remission after cancer in her paw. Cash served more than 50,000 working hours before being medically retired. Now they share the same home, the same soft landing, and the same promise from Project K-9 Hero: their medical care is covered for life. From all that… to this. These Heroes are not forgotten.
