✨ Meet Our Program Director – Emillie Martinez ✨
We’re excited to officially welcome Emillie Martinez to @ProjectImpact180 as our Program Director!
Emillie brings over 10 years of experience in workforce development, youth leadership, and grant-funded programming, with a strong background leading city-funded employment initiatives, supporting hundreds of young people, and building partnerships that create real pathways to opportunity.
At her core, Emillie is someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and creating spaces where others feel supported and seen. She’s spent years working alongside youth and families and is most fulfilled when helping young people recognize their potential and feel confident in their path forward.
What drew Emillie to Project Impact 180 was our commitment to meeting youth where they are and focusing on real growth, guidance, and empowerment. She believes deeply that when communities invest in young people with care and consistency, the impact reaches far beyond one individual.
Fun fact: Emillie is naturally creative, loves turning simple ideas into something meaningful, and enjoys Puerto Rican comfort food, crafting, and creating in her free time. Her favorite reminder?
“Strong women don’t just rise, they lift others with them.”
We’re excited for the leadership, heart, and experience Emillie brings to our team. Please help us give her a warm PI180 welcome! 💙💛

💙 THIS is why we do the work. 💙
I want to share a little about D’Angelo and his journey with Project Impact 180 .
D’Angelo has been with us for just 6 months. He came to our program through a networking event at #WACABellPark—one of those moments where a simple conversation opens the door to something bigger.
His mom shared that she had been searching for a summer program that aligned with her work hours. We intentionally try to provide programming beyond traditional hours, because we know families need flexible options that still offer structure, safety, and support. That flexibility made it possible for her to work while knowing her son was in a space that cared about him.
In just six short months:
📚 D’Angelo’s grades have improved
💪 His confidence has grown
🤝 And when asked what he’s thankful for, he shared that he’s grateful for having a space where he feels like he belongs.
And here’s the leadership piece—D’Angelo just locked in all 5 of his supporters for our $6 Birthday Challenge 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That tells me he’s not just showing up—he’s building confidence, using his voice, and believing in something bigger than himself.
Sometimes growth looks like better grades.
Sometimes it looks like confidence.
And sometimes—it looks like a young person finally feeling seen, supported, and connected.
D’Angelo, we are so proud of you. 💙
This is youth development in real life.

🎉 SHOUT-OUT TO CHRISTINA — AN OG, ALUMNI, & LEGACY LEADER 🎉
Today we’re celebrating Christina, one of the very first young people to be part of @ProjectImpact180 —and now a proud alumni who continues to support this initiative and our youth-led work.
What makes Christina’s story so powerful is that every one of these milestones happened while she was actively in our program.
During her time with Project Impact 180, Christina:
➡️ Was one of the first youth participants**
➡️ Became our first youth mentor
➡️ Got her first job with Project Impact 180
➡️ Was elected School Treasurer, building leadership and responsibility
➡️ Interned at the Chicago Nature Museum, gaining hands-on environmental experience
➡️ Offered a Sailing Apprenticeship, expanding her confidence and skills
Today, as an alum, Christina continues to build on that foundation. She is now employed by one of our partner organizations as an Outdoor Apprentice, leading youth programs across the city and giving other young people exposure to the outdoors and new experiences. She also continues to lead afterschool programs with one of our partners, pouring back into the same types of spaces that helped shape her.
This is what long-term investment looks like.
This is alumni leadership.
This is legacy.
Christina, we are so proud of you. 💙
You are proof that the work works—and that impact multiplies when young people are supported over time. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

🎉 SHOUT-OUT TO CAITLIN! 🎉
Today we’re celebrating Caitlin, one of the very first young people to join Project Impact 180 —and her journey says everything about why this work matters.
Caitlin started with us as a 4th grader during the pandemic*. At a time when learning was tough and everything felt uncertain, she showed up, put in the work, and grew. Through our program, she strengthened her reading skills, built confidence, and kept going.
Her journey:
➡️ Program participant (2020-2024)
➡️ Program helper (2025)
➡️ Peer Coach (2026)
And today? Caitlin just locked in 10 supporters for our $6 Birthday Challenge 🙌🏽—doubling what we asked of our youth and showing real leadership in action.
This is what long-term investment looks like.
This is what growth looks like.
This is what happens when young people are supported and believed in.
💙💛 Help us celebrate Caitlin in the comments! 💙💛
She is proof that the work works 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
🎉 SHOUT-OUT TO TAMIYA! 🎉
We have to pause and celebrate Tamiya—because this moment matters.
Tamiya has been with Project Impact 180 from day one. She was one of the very first young people to walk into this program, and today, she is now on staff.
She just locked in all 5 of her supporters for our $6 Birthday Challenge 💪🏽—but that’s just part of the story.
Tamiya’s journey:
➡️ Youth participant (2020-2024)
➡️ Peer Coach (2025)
➡️ Youth Instructor (2026)
This is what growth looks like.
This is what consistency looks like.
This is what happens when young people are given space, support, and opportunity.
Tamiya didn’t just grow with the program—she became a leader within it. And we are so proud of the young woman she continues to become.
💙💛 Help us celebrate Tamiya in the comments! 💙💛
She’s proof that the work works. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
