Something historic is taking root.
Over the past five years, Project Forest has been working alongside partners and communities to restore landscapes and build long-term impact across Western Canada.
On May 22nd, that work reaches a major milestone with the planting of the one millionth tree at Siksika Nation.
This moment represents more than scale. It reflects years of collaboration, partnership, and consistent, on-the-ground effort.
We invite you to follow the journey as we approach this milestone š projectforest.ca/OneMillionTrees

Last week, we gathered to celebrate something bigger than trees.
The Project Forest Annual Partner Celebration brought together partners, supporters, and community leaders to reflect on what weāve built together and where weāre headed next.
From conversations shared to stories told, it was a reminder that this work is not done alone. It is built through partnership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to something that lasts.
A special thank you to DH Ranch, @sonyadodge and Brent Dodginghorse for sharing their knowledge and creating space for connection through culture and experience.
To everyone who joined us, supported the event, and continues to be part of this work, thank you.
This work continues because of you. And weāre just getting started. š«

The work behind the forests has started.
Before any trees go in the ground, thereās a lot that happens first. Site prep, planning, and time spent understanding the land itself.
At Siksika, that work is now underway.
Itās the part of the process most people donāt see, but itās what makes everything that follows possible.
With field season officially open, weāre one step closer to the planting days ahead.

Earth Day is not just about what could happen. It is about what is already happening.
Not all forests start in forests. Some begin on landfills, some begin on industrial sites, and some begin in places that were once written off as lost.
Across Alberta, these landscapes are being reimagined. From the Keyera Legacy Forest to Ma Matow Sakow, to where it all began with Swan River First Nation, this work reflects what restoration looks like in practice.
It is not perfect, and it is not instant, but it is in motion.
Earth Day is a reminder that meaningful change is built over time, through consistent action and shared effort.
As this work continues, we are approaching an important milestone, with our one millionth tree set to be planted this spring.

Future-focused action starts close to home.
Weāre proud to recognize @EPCOR as a returning Project Forest partner, continuing their commitment into 2026 as a Silver Partner.
Since first joining in 2025, EPCOR has supported work connected to Siksika Nation, aligning with their focus on community impact, Indigenous relations, and long-term thinking.
Their continued partnership reflects an investment not just in the work itself, but in the people and places it supports.
EPCOR has also contributed to launching Project Forestās trail camera program, helping build a deeper understanding of how these landscapes are used over time.
Weāre grateful to have EPCOR alongside us as this work continues to grow.
One week to go until Project Forestās Annual Partner Celebration.
On April 23 at the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, weāll be bringing together partners, supporters, and community leaders to celebrate the work made possible through collaboration.
This yearās event will feature Indigenous performances, a hands-on cultural workshop with DH Ranch, and the opportunity for partners to be recognized and collect their 2025 awards.
If youāre planning to attend, now is the time to secure your ticket (š in bio)! šļø
Spring is here, and our 2026 field season is underway. š±šŖ
This year begins at Siksika, where archaeology is taking place ahead of site preparation and planting.
Itās a step that has always been part of our process, helping ensure the work we do on the land is thoughtful, respectful, and grounded in understanding what came before.
This work is carried out by Ember Archaeology, who help guide this important part of the process.
As the season gets started, weāre looking forward to being back out on the land and continuing this work with our partners and communities.
Longstanding support. A deeper commitment.
Today weāre celebrating @CenovusEnergy as a Project Forest Platinum partner.
Over the years, Cenovus has been part of this work in meaningful ways, supporting initiatives that bring employees and communities closer to the land.
This next chapter builds on that foundation.
Together, this partnership creates opportunities for people to step outside, get their hands in the soil, and take part in something tangible.
Not just supporting the work, but being part of it. Thatās where real impact happens.
Weāre grateful to have Cenovus alongside us as we continue to grow spaces that bring people together and create lasting connection to the land.
From one⦠to one million.
Over the past five years, Project Forest has worked alongside partners to build something that continues to take shape across Alberta.
One planting day. One partnership. One shared effort at a time.
And now, we are getting ready to plant our one millionth tree.
This spring, weāll mark this milestone at Siksika Nation, alongside the partners who have helped make it possible and those who will help shape what comes next.
This is more than a number. It is a reflection of what can happen when organizations take part in something real. Something visible. Something that continues to grow.

āYou are connecting to something that is way deeper than you.ā
ā Nonso Nnamdi, Habit Communications
What begins as a volunteer opportunity becomes a shared experience that brings people together, strengthens connection, and creates a visible, lasting impact beyond the day itself.
Itās not how most people would describe a typical volunteer experience.
But itās something we consistently hear from teams after corporate planting.
For organizations looking to offer meaningful employee volunteer opportunities, this is a chance to engage teams in something tangible, collaborative, and rooted in connection.
If your plans are still taking shape, there is still time to get involved this season.
