If you’re building a cabin on a desert island, here are three things to take with you:
a dock
a ton of lumber
a legit workshop

Even though we like to keep life on the island simple, we’ve added a few things to make everyday living easier. Here’s what keeps things comfortable:
Electricity
This island runs on solar power, and a few years ago, we connected to the electrical grid to keep things running smoothly all season.
Water
We filter seawater from the Baltic, making it safe for drinking, cooking, and washing.
Toilet & Shower
Unlike many Finnish cabins, we have a water toilet and a proper shower. The sauna heats the water, so it’s always warm when needed.
Natural Hot Tub
We cleared out a natural rock pool and turned it into a wood-heated hot tub. It wasn’t the easiest project, but definitely worth it.
Kitchen
There are two fully equipped kitchens, one in the main cabin and another in the pavilion, plus an outdoor kitchen for cooking outside.
Air Conditioning
The bedrooms have AC to stay cool in the heat and warm when it gets chilly.
Laundry
We have a washing machine for clothes and the sea wind takes care of the drying 💨

Blade Season
As the sea freezes, boats can no longer reach Gåsskäret. At the same time, the ice opens a new route across the water by skates.
Thanks @patrick.blom for sharing this rare view of the island 😍
New cabins have quietly risen on a new island. The autumn colors and light highlight their fresh exteriors, which will slowly weather into a beautiful shade of grey.
