Artist visit at Klui Lombok Village Preschool, alongside Project Why Not, who continue to support this beautiful preschool space.
Grateful to have played a small part over the years.
To finally visit, and be welcomed by the children and village Elders onto their Country, was something truly special.
We spent time making together — sharing a few materials and elements of Australian First Nations culture, while learning through their language, stories and ways of being.
The children responded openly, creating a collaborative work shaped by many hands. Art becoming a quiet bridge between cultures.
Beyond the classroom, time shared with Elders and community deepened that exchange — a reminder that these connections are built through people, place and presence.
Their welcome song, sung in their own language, was deeply moving.
Across oceans, we walk together — learning, sharing, growing stronger.
My Wild Dog totem quietly present… a small witness to connection and place.
Keep shining, modern-day Kartini! Your spirit is a beacon for the nation’s progress. 💛

It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news that on 24 December 2023 two of our students, Gibran and Dina, passed away. Gibran and Dina brought so much joy, love and happiness to the Klui Village Learning Centre and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew them 💔
COVID-19 Update
We’ve had many people asking about how the Klui Village Learning Centre has been going during these unprecedented and challenging times, so we thought we would provide a much needed update. Project Why Not has been following the Indonesian Governments COVID-19 guidelines and accordingly Klui Village Learning Centre was closed at the beginning of the pandemic. During this time our teachers, Ony and Patock, ensured that the children could continue learning remotely. Ony and her daughter Alifa delivered schoolwork to the students in the village to complete while at home. In addition to this, Ony, Patock and Alifa have been making face masks and distributing them to the local community.
We are excited to announce the learning centre has now reopened. We are adhering to the Government’s COVID-19 guidelines to ensure that we provide a safe learning environment for the students and the wider community. The kids are super excited to be back in the classroom and resume learning from their wonderful teacher Ony 📚
