As an Azorean Portuguese American, April 25th, Freedom Day, holds a deep personal meaning for me. The Carnation Revolution of 1974 didn’t just restore democracy in Portugal, it gave the Azores a voice. For years, men from the islands were forced into colonial wars while Azorean communities saw little in return. After the revolution, that began to change, leading to autonomy for the Azores in 1976 and the ability to have representation and a say in their own future. What makes this moment so powerful is how it happened. A peaceful revolution, symbolized by red carnations placed in soldiers’ rifles, proving that change can come through unity and courage. Here in Lowell, we carry that legacy forward by honoring the veterans who fought for this freedom. We gather for a community dinner and a parade where the Banda do Espírito Santo accompanies our veterans to the monument, paying tribute to their service and sacrifice. I encourage everyone to learn about their culture’s history, understand the sacrifices that shaped it, and keep these traditions alive and honored. Such an AMAZING day yesterday at the @lillypulitzer Spring/Summer Fashion Show Charity Event at Davio's in Lynnfield🩷💚 NGL, I'm still on a high from it…like wow. To be part of something so meaningful, raising money for @joshuakayefoundation & @headsupguys …that’s the kind of moment that just hits different for me. Fashion + purpose = EVERYTHING.🙏🏼 I had SO much fun walking with my S6 MAFW fam~a whole lineup of beauty, confidence, and good energy ALL DAY. There’s nothing like being surrounded by people who genuinely hype you up and shine right alongside with you.✨️ And Meagan @miss.maegannn , girrrrllll, I can't THANK YOU enough for this opportunity and for capturing all the moments📸 You already know I’m about to replay this day over and over again lol. On Wednesday, I was so grateful to attend the Northeast Arc Changing Lives Gala at Encore Boston. The entire night was beautifully done and centered around inclusion, dignity, and real community impact. Their mission of helping individuals with disabilities fully participate in their communities through living, learning, working, and socializing was truly felt throughout the evening. Through Project Purpose, I love being part of nonprofit spaces like this that create real moments of connection and belonging. One of the most meaningful parts of the night was working as Mia’s stylist and helping her choose her outfit ahead of the gala. Seeing her confidence and excitement throughout the night was something I’ll never forget. 2nd Annual Sip & Shop to support @capeannanimalaid 🤍 Through Project Purpose: turning compassion into action, I believe giving back starts with creating opportunities to make a difference. I hosted my second annual giveback event at Market Street with Cape Ann Animal Aid, joined by the sweetest puppies, Sasha and Sassie, who stole everyone’s hearts. What meant the most was seeing our community show up with intention, dropping off donations simply to help. One of the most meaningful parts of Project Purpose is finding creative ways to turn everyday experiences into opportunities to give back. I am so excited to be part of the planning behind the Lilly Pulitzer portion of the Spring Into Summer Fashion Show on April 26th. Through this partnership, 10% of Lilly Pulitzer sales from the event will be donated to the Joshua Kaye Foundation ( @joshuakayefoundation ) an organization I chose because of their incredible work fighting hunger, supporting animal welfare, uplifting children in need, and empowering youth to create positive change in their communities. This event is a beautiful example of how fashion, community, and philanthropy can come together to make a real impact. Tried something different last week by attending Jazz at the Arts at the Marblehead Art Association. It was a great time listening to live jazz music and taking in art made by people right in the community.🎷 Afterward, we tried a local favorite in Peabody, Trackside Bar & Grill, and I loved the Portuguese food. Creating smiles this Valentine’s Day 💌 What started as simply wanting to help turned into something so meaningful. Leading up to Valentine’s Day, I was able to help collect and create 200+ valentines that were passed out to residents at four local nursing / assisted living centers across Middlesex, Essex, and Worcester County. This was @jennaeves.journey , and I’m so grateful I got to support my sister and her Ageless & Alive initiative! From helping advertise, to making valentines, to passing them out alongside her. Watching her turn such a meaningful idea into real moments of joy was incredibly special. The smiles on the residents’ faces are something I’ll never forget 🤍 A huge thank you to the classrooms, daycares, Girl Scout troops, friends, and family who donated valentines and chocolates. Your kindness helped remind so many residents that they are loved, seen, and valued. Celebrated Galentine’s Day at @carriesunde_ community giveback event for @c2cboston 💖 This was Carrie’s beautiful vision, and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to support the event behind the scenes, helping bring the Lilly Pulitzer partnership to life The night was all about celebrating friendship and giving back, in support of Cradles to Crayons, an incredible organization that provides children from birth through age 12 living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play.💗🧤 Thank you to such a generous community, we were able to collect donations and raise a few hundred dollars for the cause.
