As we close 2024 and look toward the horizon of 2025, we extend our deep gratitude to each of you—storytellers, frontline activists, allies, and leaders—who bring your courage, conviction, and compassion to this shared work. What follows is just a glimpse of the Dandelions driving us toward a climate-safe world. The stories we carry, the actions we take, and the influence we wield are not separate threads but part of a greater tapestry—a global coalition working for a just, livable, and sustainable future for all. Today, we stand together having pinned over 10,000 leaders, alongside 300 organizations, reaching more than 250 million people around the world. This is a moment of convergence. It is a time to raise our voices, amplify those on the frontlines, and drive change with urgency and resolve. The future we envision will only be achieved through collaboration, determination, and an unwavering belief in our collective power.

Dandelion of the Week: Siva Sunia 🌼 Siva Sunia is a climate resilience practitioner and youth leader based in Tonga, a small island state in the South Pacific that ranks among the most climate-vulnerable nations on earth. Laura Cook from our team recently joined Siva on a learning journey on the island of Tongatapu, exploring what climate adaptation truly means in practice. Together, they highlighted that risk only becomes real when it is felt by communities, and that building genuine resilience requires community involvement at every stage. I had the great honor of being part of the Embassy of Ireland Youth Engagement Reception, on the invitation of Ambassador Caitríona Ingoldsby, joining an intergenerational dialogue between The Elders and young leaders working across different sectors on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit. We had such meaningful roundtable conversations covering different topics, including climate and nature, multilateralism, conflict, technology and AI, human rights, and gender equality, conversations that truly remind us how important it is for generations to listen to and learn from one another. The @theelders_org , founded by Nelson Mandela in 2007, are an independent group of global leaders working for peace, justice, human rights, and a sustainable planet, currently chaired by @juanmanuelsantos , Former President of Colombia and Nobel Peace Laureate, with, @graca_machel_mandela the first Education Minister of Mozambique, serving as Deputy Chairperson. In her closing remarks, Mary Robinson, Former Chairperson of the Elders and Former President of Ireland, reminded us of Kofi Annan’s words, “You are never too young to lead, and you are never too old to learn.”. A simple but powerful reminder of why intergenerational dialogue matters so much, especially in the world we are shaping today.

Planetary Guardian and Project Dandelion Co-Founder Mary Robinson on the real cost of fossil fuels: “We pay three times: at the gas pump, through our taxes and through the damage to our health, economies and planet.” Despite $1.05* trillion a year still flowing into fossil fuel subsidies, renewable momentum is unstoppable. Across the world, communities and countries are already proving that cleaner, more accessible energy systems are possible. Read more in the Renewable Freedom Report, link in bio 🔗 #renewablefreedom

Across the globe, women are healing the land - and in doing so, healing their communities too. 🌱 Our partner Commonland brings people together to restore landscapes and regenerate the Earth: our common land. Through their holistic 4 Returns Framework, communities anywhere in the world can work with nature and their local ecosystems to drive landscape restoration at scale, proving that when people and the planet are treated as one, transformation follows. These stories spotlight the women restoring ecosystems, rebuilding communities, and reimagining our relationship with the land - one seedball, one farm, one act of coexistence at a time. 🌍 📸 Credit to Resilience Food Systems for the images of Santiaga.

Dandelion of the Week: Nemonte Nenquimo 🌼 Nemonte is a Waorani woman from the Ecuadorian Amazon - a mother, a community leader, and one of the most powerful Indigenous rights and climate defenders of our time. 🌿 Her work is a reminder that the most essential climate knowledge doesn’t come from boardrooms or policy papers - it comes from those who have lived in relationship with the land for generations, who understand that the forest is not a resource to be managed, but life itself. 🌳 Check out the Dandelion Digest, our weekly newsletter, for the full interview. This week, 56 countries gathered in Santa Marta, Colombia, for the First International Conference on the Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels, not to debate whether to phase out fossil fuels - but how. Dandelion Vanessa Nakate explains the outcomes from Santa Marta, and what we must hold as we gather for the Second Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in early 2027 in Tuvalu, co-chaired by Ireland. This is what momentum looks like. ✊🌼 #ClimateAction #FossilFuelPhaseout #SantaMarta #ProjectDandelion
