Following the fall of communism in 1989, it became the country's first venue for electronic music. ▫️Over the years, the club transformed from an underground pioneer into a world-class institution, hosting many artists across different eras, from 90s pioneers to early 2000s names like Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, Tiësto, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, etc. ▫️In the late 1990s, organized by the pioneering electronic music collective Metropolis, Sofia hosted massive street parades that mirrored the spirit of Berlin. 🎧 Progressive Tales 277 Episode 277 welcomes Leandro Murua, joining host Aleksandar Marković for a deep and emotionally driven progressive journey. Hailing from Córdoba, Argentina, Leandro Murua has become a powerful name within the global progressive house scene. Influenced by legends such as Hernán Cattáneo, John Digweed, Nick Warren and Guy J, he began his DJ journey in 2016, quickly building a reputation across Córdoba’s club circuit while expanding his reach through international radio guest mixes. During the global lockdowns he transitioned into music production, developing a signature sound shaped by melodic storytelling, deep atmospheres and driving grooves. The euphoric trance excess of the late ’90s was fading, and the scene’s leading DJs were moving toward deeper, moodier, more rhythm-driven territory. This double mix from Danny Howells and Nick Warren captures that transition almost perfectly. ◾️Disc One — Danny Howells Mood: Deep, nocturnal, hypnotic Danny Howells’ mix is the more subtle and emotionally immersive half of the package. Resident Advisor described it as moving from “smooth and dark” into a mysterious late-night journey. ◾️Disc Two — Nick Warren Mood: Cinematic, melodic, expansive Nick Warren’s disc is more immediately accessible and slightly more melodic.
