Check out our friends from Saskatchewan Printmakers at their drop-in silkscreen workshop at last year’s festival. Did you visit their station?!
It was snowing last night and the highway looked a little suspicious, but I trusted the AWD Prius to get me to Moosejaw to meet this guy who was selling a Kelsey Excelsior U press and “a box of letters”. I had offered him $250 based on the ad knowing that I would likely need to buy new rollers or try to DIY something. Anyways, I showed up at this guy‘s house which belonged to his great uncle, and he had all sorts of stuff in the basement which he had hauled up for me. The press itself needs some cleaning and oiling, and yes, the rollers are toast, but I was not expecting all these other amazing treats!

Welcome back to our Interviewing Professors series!
In this video, we'll interview a UofR professor in the Department of Visual arts and learn why the Media, Art, and Performance Faculty is a great place to be.
Thank you to @professortruszkowski for agreeing to be interviewed!
The last full day of my speedrun up and down the 401 was spent in the centre of the universe. Visits to Open Studio, the AGO for a Printmaking bonanza feat. Blackwood, Matsubara, Ashoona, and a bunch of historical prints from 19th c Toronto. Oh and Kusama’s little infinity room! Old time Bánh Mì at Nguyên Huong on Spadina, BBQ pork and duck from Hong Fatt, and a trip to the Paper Place on Queen W. I put 31,550 steps on the all-black Sambas.

Hard-launching the new Winter bike next to Wascana creek on a 25° C day in September. Rocky Mountain Fusion 40 with standard upgrades such as a Brooks Cambium c17 Rubber saddle, Crank Bros Candy 3 pedals, extremely-fussy-to-fit Axiom Roadrunner mudguards (that required custom stainless rods for the rear and TWO sets of adaptors, among other headaches), and 29er Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro tires that were SO LOUD as I had to break them in on dry pavement today. Hopefully this bike can live up to my 1970’s Sekine 10-speed to single conversion that was my bomb-proof Winter ride for the last decade.
