Two years ago, I was diagnosed with ADHD, and it shifted everything for me. My mind was always racing, feeling like chaos, but dance? Dance gave me clarity.
Today, on Mental Health Awareness Day, I’m reminding you—whatever you’re going through, movement can be your breakthrough.
Dance isn’t just about the steps; it’s about freeing your mind and finding your groove in the chaos.
Let’s move together today and shake off what’s holding us back. Have you danced today?

Many think creativity only grows when you stay locked into your craft.
But honestly?
A lot of my inspiration doesn’t come from dance.
It comes from life, conversations, things I’ve seen. It often hides in books I read, shows up in the way something moves, or the way something feels. Simply put, it comes from paying attention.
That’s why I try my best to stay aware of the world around me.
Because if I only let dance inspire my dance, I don’t think my creativity would go nearly as far as it has… or as far as it still can.
That’s true in movement, and I believe it’s true in life too.
Sometimes your next breakthrough doesn’t come from trying harder. Sometimes it comes from noticing deeper.
So now I’m curious:
Can you guess what inspired this flow?
Drop your guess below.

A lot of people try to regulate themselves by thinking harder.
But sometimes the fastest way back to yourself is movement.
Not performance or pressure. Just a simple rhythm your body can hold onto until your mind settles down.
Sometimes peace starts with one bounce.
Have you danced today?
Save this for the next time your mind is doing too much.

Maybe you’re not stuck. Maybe you’re just scattered
I’m right there with you. In today’s world, we are used to our minds running in ten directions at once.
Full of too many thoughts.
Offered many options.
Taking on too much pressure to prove yourself.
But doing the most is not the same as being connected.
I’ve been working on something I call a one-move scheme. Inspired by rappers who hold the same rhyme scheme for an entire verse.
It looks simple, but it takes presence, trust, and real creativity to stay with one thing long enough to develop inside it.
That’s not just a movement lesson.
For me it’s become a life lesson.
Sometimes the shift is not in doing more.
It’s in going deeper.
That’s where confidence gets built, truth gets louder, and where forcing ends and flow begins.
We dance how we live.
Save this for the days your mind is trying to do everything at once.

You’re not uncreative.
You’ve just been rushed out of your own process.
Too many seeds.
Not enough roots.
And now we copy…
before we ever create.
Have you danced today?

We did the one move concept again — but I took it a step further, and boy it was a challenge.
The move for the class was: Shuffle ‘n’ Dodge
Most street steps are 2–3 counts.
So we framed the move: 1–2–3, 1–2–3.
When you know where the 1 / 2 / 3 lives… you can start changing the step without changing the step:
hold one count • stretch it • speed it up • flip the direction • change the texture.
That’s how one move becomes many.
You don’t need a thousand moves.
You need a smarter way to use what you already have.
Try it today: pick one move today and label the counts.
Then change one count on purpose.

This is why I teach “one move” work.
Same simple step.
Different bodies.
Different styles.
And people start loosening up fast because in the repetition, pressure drops.
It’s not about being the expert.
It’s about giving your nervous system a trusted predictable lane to explore.
If freestyle has felt “not for you”…
this is your sign to practice smaller. Stay close, I got more.

Stop collecting moves. Start using the moves you have
I only did pas de bourrée here,
but I changed the choices:
timing,
texture,
direction,
intention.
If you get stuck in freestyle, don’t add more.
Pick one move, one idea even, and explore it for one song.
No performance. Just permission.
I’m posting the class version next, so you can see it works on real people too.

Some forms of hesitation aren’t about discipline or motivation.
They’re about protecting yourself from being seen before you feel certain.
Many of us learned to wait for confidence before allowing ourselves new experiences.
But confidence often grows after participation, not before.
If something in you has been quietly asking for expression, movement, or presence,
there’s nothing wrong with starting from honesty instead of readiness.
If this felt familiar, take one small moment this week to show up somewhere without needing to feel prepared first.
Not to impress anyone, just to experience yourself differently.
