Want to learn about AI? Since my NSF funding was terminated I’m just going to teach you about it anyway. :) Yay AI ethics class with professor Casey! #aiethics #aieducation

Please enjoy my favorite book recommendations video ever. The lip syncing is to Penelope Scott's song Rät. (Which is 🔥🔥🔥) List of books: Algorithms of Oppression (Noble) The Age of Surveillance Capitalism (Zuboff) Race After Technology (Benjamin) Weapons of Math Destruction (O'Neil) Automating Inequality (Eubanks) Technically Wrong (Wachter-Boettcher) Ghost Work (Gray & Suri) Design Justice (Constanza-Chock) For a longer list of books about tech ethics and justice see the link in my profile! #techethics #aiethics #ai #artificialintelligence #bookrecommendations #computerscience #designjustice #algorithmsofoppression #weaponsofmathdestruction #raceaftertechnology #penelopescott

The Luddites were not so much anti technology as they were anti the systems of power around that technology. And the same is true of many AI critics. Also check out Blood in the Machine by Brian Merchant. :)

Feel free to scroll if you don’t want to hear me complain about this again, but a little anniversary edition explanation of my DOGE NSF funding cuts seemed appropriate in the context of my thinking a lot about the importance of public education on AI literacy!

Last week I left straight from commencement to the airport for a much needed vacation after one of the most unpleasantly busy semesters of my entire career. Spent it with vacay buddy @alexadonne in LA and on a cruise up the west coast… and importantly (because hanging out with writer friends is probably what inspires me most) touched my novel for the first time in months! (Also saw some whales.) I am feeling marginally less frazzled going into the summer.

It’s graduation day for @cubouldercmci ! This academic year was the ten year anniversary of the college and also the Department of Information Science. I’ve been here since day one and it’s amazing to see how many graduates we have this year! Congratulations!!!

Honestly I am kind of tempted to use this image that @tomwilliams.phd or one of his colleagues made as my professional headshot haha

Tomorrow (Friday!) I’ll be performing at @risecomedy again as part of Robot Riot: The Robot Comedy Hour. And if this video made it to your social media feed, hey maybe the algorithm knows something!
