Still smiling about this one! Winning the Social Impact Award at the @nwfba2026 North West Family Business Awards was a proud moment for all of us at PROCare.
What made it special is that it recognised the stuff that matters most to us as a business... From helping housing providers create safer homes through our Fit For Our Future campaign, to supporting @thebrickwigan and other community projects. Backing local sports, from @wiganwarriorsrl to @louist_wheels and local youth teams - we’ve always believed business should put something back.
We might work nationwide now, but Wigan will always be home.

There’s definitely more funding being talked about for home adaptations now, which is good to see.
But on the ground, a lot of teams are still trying to juggle:
• long waiting lists
• stretched assessment teams
• delays between departments
• reactive jobs instead of planned ones
• systems that were never really built for this level of demand
Most delays don’t actually happen fitting the bathroom... They happen before anyone even gets on site.
As more people want to stay independent at home for longer, the real challenge is making sure the whole system can keep up and deliver changes when people actually need them.
Because funding only goes so far if homes are still waiting to be adapted months later. Future proof homes need future proof delivery too.
