Using “destructive” record mode in Pro Tools to patch some last minute edit requests from the producer for a TV episode (simultaneous DX, MX, FX, M&E and full mix stems for both 5.1 broadcast, stereo broadcast and just full mix stereo for web streaming - all in their own true peak and LUFS specs). Then instead of a new record pass or bounce it’s just a simple cmd+shift+K (mac) to export selected clips as audio directly into folders. Then an easy upload to frame.io and posting a share link on Slack and voilà!
It’s nice when things work, the way they are supposed to.
(Although I was trashing prefs etc yesterday for about an hour, because Pro Tools suddenly forgot how to play. 🥸)

Performance at the Libby Gardner Hall at the University of Utah.
Experimenting again by not using my mobile computer rig to record the concert. Instead I’m using three different types of field recorders. I have to say I’m pretty stunned at the results. Things have come a long way to be able to record this way.
Used a Faulkner array (ORTF center with AB Omnis on the sides). Also added M/S recording directly to a zoom H6 recorder for an additional stereo option to play around with.
Also set up a pair of ribbon mics behind the choir on with side with the null facing towards the choir, so they were only capturing ambience.
Andrew narrated so to add a little reinforcement in the hall I fitted him with a lav running into and recording directly into a Zoom F2 and then running a wireless body pack out of the F2 into a receiver into the house system.
Experimenting with wireless RØDE Go II transmitters/recorders (recording internally in both) and placing them at the extreme back of the hall to capture the hall ambience.
Each of the main stereo pairs (and ribbons) sound good enough on their own to be used independently, but there is a really magical sound in blending them all. It’s going to be fun to see what the Director @kameronkavanaugh ends up liking most.
