Via National Prison Radio and our podcasts like @afterprisonpod , we share simple, practical advice to support mental health in prison and after release 🧠 The tips come from people who’ve lived it - like @billyscottpendray - who understand what it’s like to go through hard times and dark days, and how to support yourself and others through them. That’s why 97% of listeners say they trust what they hear on National Prison Radio, because it comes from people who truly understand the experience. Mental health support and community for people in prison, from people who’ve been there too 🕊️ #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

Just as our very own @zakarriyahkhalil7 coined it, leaving prison can feel like being dropped into the middle of a jungle. Especially in those first few days and weeks adjusting to life outside, it can take time to find your feet. It’s so important to look after your mental health in those moments 🧠 Small things like routine, staying in touch with friends, and giving yourself time and space can help make the transition feel a bit more manageable. There’s no right way or set speed to get back in the fast lane. And always remember, support is available. You don’t have to figure it all out alone 🤝 @afterprisonpod is our podcast made to support prison leavers - delivered through the voices and experiences of people who’ve been there themselves. Tune in now wherever you get your podcasts, or on YouTube ▶️ #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

So proud to have received two nominations across two categories at the 2026 UK ARIAS (Audio and Radio Industry Awards). So proud to be recognised as one of the best in the business at an industry level. So proud to work alongside some of the UK’s most talented presenters and producers, who just so happen to have spent time in prison. And so proud to be representing and highlighting the potential of people in prison everywhere. There is so much talent behind bars, we see proof of that every day. Thank you so much to everyone at @audioacademyuk . See you at the Roundhouse 🤠 #ARIAS #Radio #Audio #Awards #PrisonRadio #SocialImpact #SpeechRadio @afterprisonpod

We spent our Tuesday at HMP Woodhill, clipboards in hand, speaking directly with people in prison about National Prison Radio - what they’re listening to, what’s working, and how we can do better 📋 We spoke to 40 people on their prison wings and in their education workshops, hearing about the impact of shows like And Breathe and We Care, which offers support to those with experience of care. Here is just one snippet of one of the day's powerful conversations: "NPR shows that prison isn’t the end. It makes your world feel bigger" 💬 By spending time on the wings and listening to our audience, we make sure National Prison Radio continues to meet the real needs of people in prisons across the country 🤝 #PrisonRadio #HMPWoodhill #Feedback #Education #AndBreathe #CareExperience

So great to have Maverick Sabre in our HMP Brixton studio last week 💫 He joined us for a special edition of our National Prison Radio programme Love Bug where he was interviewed by one of our prisoner-producers and spoke to our audience of 80,000+ people in prison about his music, writing, and the importance and power of connecting with loved ones 💌 These kinds of interviews go beyond just making good radio with good people. They give our prisoner-producers the chance to build real skills - learning how to interview, shape conversations, and ask the questions people want answered. They also open up space for new ideas and different ways of thinking, shared right across the prison system through voices people recognise and trust 🤝 Thank you so much for dropping by @mavericksabre , we're looking forward to next time already. #HMP #Brixton #PrisonRadio #NPR #MaverickSabre #Love #Connection #Writing #Music
