What does it really mean to be a host - not just on stage, but in life? In the Season 7 premiere of Living a Creative Life, we follow rising powerhouse @priscillathecherry as she builds @theoratoryshow - a live talk show rooted in bold storytelling, deep intention, and electric energy. But it’s more than just prepping for a show. It’s a full dive into what it takes to hold space, build trust, and make people feel seen.
Our host Adora goes behind the scenes - through late-night rehearsals, creative chaos, and personal reflection - to uncover the real art of hosting. The kind you don’t learn from a script.
Curious what separates a good host from a great one?

Living a Creative Life celebrates the creativity of Calgarians - why they create, how they push through blocks, and the deeply personal stuff that fuels the work. You’ll hear the things they don’t usually say out loud.

Every great art show needs a host - because the audience isn’t just looking for the work, they’re looking for a way in. A host brings energy, context, and emotional connection; they guide the vibe, break the ice, and make people feel something beyond the canvas or the stage.
Without a host, it’s just a room full of stuff. With a host, it becomes an experience. This is why artists need someone who can hold space, shape the moment, and bring the whole damn thing to life.
Toast your Calgary hosts. They’re the spark that turns art into electricity and makes the whole room feel it. ⚡️
Living a Creative Life is a salute to the Calgarians putting our city’s art scene on the world stage. Watch the latest episode at our link in bio. 🎥

Just one month to go until United Way of Calgary and Area’s Community Impact Awards, a celebration of compassion, collaboration and lasting change! 🎉
Last year, we saw the need in our community, and united, we created change. The Community Impact Awards shine a spotlight on the workplaces, partners and changemakers who turned generosity into action through United Way’s annual giving campaign.
We’re also thrilled to welcome Priscilla Cherry (@priscillathecherry ) as our host. A previous recipient of mental health services through a United Way–supported community partner, she is now a social artist and national mental health peer practitioner. Priscilla’s work has been featured on @Netflix , TED (tedxyyc) and Entertainment Tonight Canada (@entertainmenttonight ). Her powerful voice for resilience and community leadership perfectly reflects our shared mission to create lasting social change.

Being seen is not the same as being known.✨
I can host a room, command the mic, and be very ‘on & in full glam’ AND be very ‘off key, no makeup on, losing my mind in aisle 7 belting Coldplay at the grocery store.’ 🎤🙃
You’re allowed to be both unstoppable and unserious. If you needed permission to be both: here it is! 🎉
The asterisk to my polished side is my silliness. What’s your asterisk? 🥰

why sister loc’ing is the best hair decision I’ve ever made:
1. went from feeling frustrated to feeling free. ✨
2. went from over overthinking hairstyles to getting up & going (loc’ing my hair has cut ‘getting ready time’ in half). 💁🏽♀️
3. went from feeling like, “locs won’t look good on camera, it’s not glam enough, and no one will book me to host or MC their events because of my hair” to, “I only want to work with people who embrace me fully & don’t have dated beauty standards or ways of thinking”.💄
4. went from not witnessing ‘locs as a look’ to finding inspiration all around me (big loc love to @chloebailey and @hallebailey 😍 + my childhood hairdresser turned loctician @juliettaraoul 💞) AND also becoming the inspiration I was seeking. 🔥
5. went from trying every hair hack (I’m talking: chemical relaxer, silk press, weave, front lace wig, protective styles with my natural hair, single braids, crochet, Keratin treatment, Henna, big chop, Chebe powder) to embracing what god has already blessed me with naturally. 🤎
if you’ve been thinking about loc’ing your hair… LET THIS BE YOUR SIGN! 🪧⬅️
my only regret is not staring sooner 🚨
NOTE:
- it’s a large investment up front ($800-$1,500) + maintenance every 5 to 8 weeks depending on regrowth ($150-$250) *I was spending $100-$250 on my hair every month before loc’ing, so although it’s expensive to start, it’s more expensive not to start and you end up saving more $$$ over time
- It will be the best investment you will ever do for your hair + your future self will thank you

if this resonates, save it for later and share it with a friend who’s learning to trust the process. 🙏🏽
