Is there a difference between Fine Art and Giclee Prints? This is a question we are asked all the time so we thought we would share the answer with you today:)
No difference! Fine art inkjet prints are essentially the same as giclee prints. "Giclee" is a term that originated in the 1990s to describe high-quality inkjet prints used for fine art reproduction. The word "giclee" comes from the French verb "gicler," which means "to spray," referring to the inkjet printing process.
Over time, "giclee" has become a widely accepted term in the art world to describe fine art inkjet prints created with archival-quality inks and high-quality papers. Giclee prints are known for their exceptional color accuracy, detail reproduction, and longevity, making them popular among artists and collectors.
Therefore, fine art inkjet prints and giclee prints can be used interchangeably to refer to the same type of high-quality inkjet reproductions of artwork.
At Print Partner we use the highest quality papers and inks so you can rest assured you are getting "Fine Art or Giclee quality" prints everytime.

The type of paper you should use for printing photos depends on the look and feel you want to achieve. Here are some common types of paper for printing photos and their unique characteristics:
Glossy photo paper has a shiny, reflective surface that enhances the vibrancy and saturation of colors in the photo. Glossy paper is ideal for printing images with high contrast, deep blacks, and bright colors, and is often used for printing photos that will be displayed in photo albums.
Matte photo paper has a non-reflective surface that provides a subdued, natural look to the photo. Matte paper is ideal for printing images with softer colors, smoother tones, and a more natural appearance. Matte paper is commonly used for printing portraits, landscapes, and other images where a high level of detail and texture is desired.
Satin (Lustre) photo paper has a finish that is in-between glossy and matte, with a slightly reflective surface that provides a balance of color and detail. Satin paper is ideal for framing under glass and printing images with mixed light and dark areas or for images where a balance of detail and color is important.
Fine art photo paper is a type of paper that is specifically designed for printing high-quality art prints, such as museum-quality reproductions of paintings or photographs. Fine art paper is typically heavier and has a textured surface that provides a tactile feel and enhances the overall quality of the image. Fine art paper is often used for printing limited edition prints and gallery exhibits.
Metallic paper has a glossy finish with a metallic sheen that gives photos a unique, almost three-dimensional look. It's a good choice for printing images with bright colors, such as landscapes.
Baryta paper is a type of photographic paper that has a coating of barium sulfate, which gives the paper a unique look and feel. Baryta paper is typically used for fine art printing and has a high dynamic range, deep blacks, and excellent tonal gradation and also produces a high level of detail and contrast.
