The Shop
@standardtime.to is celebrating its 1 year anniversary June 14. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last year buying records and putting events together with our cru.
We would like to invite you to come celebrate with us for a full day of dancing and record shopping. Our day will kick off with a record sale from some of our favourite peddlers stacked with plenty crates of discs for you to browse from 1pm - 7pm.
The evening dance will be steered by our shop DJs with a very special guest Prince Language from NYC. Expect a night of the most sublime selections, our shop DJ’s are fearless behind the decks. If you’re craving the unfound and unexpected, this is the one for your ears.
Prince Language is one of New York City’s premier underground DJs and producers. His acclaimed remixes for artists like LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, The Rapture, Azari & III, and Armand Van Helden, as well as numerous edits of dance floor obscurities for the Editions Disco label have earned his tracks a place in the sets of DJs as diverse as David Mancuso, DJ Harvey, Carl Craig, James Murphy, and Gilles Peterson, and brought him gigs spinning diverse yet coherent sets for partygoers in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. He was born and raised in Chicago in a time before the internet, on a steady musical diet of cassette tapes of house and disco legends Ron Hardy and the Hot Mix 5, underage visits to the legendary House/Goth/Industrial dance club Medusa’s, as well as classic Hip-Hop, Soul, Rare Groove and Jazz, and also hosts a monthly show on Brooklyn’s Lot Radio. His sets weave the underground dance music traditions of Chicago and New York City together with threads of the global musical diaspora, and are always rooted in Black music. He has also played a pivotal role in the Luaka Bop records 2017 reissue of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda’s Ashram music, which has led to a renewed interest in, and ever-expanding worldwide audience for her transcendent music.
