Reposted from @adenikelanlehin , "Weāre gradually approaching election season and as broadcasters, we sometimes struggle with finding good social commentary music to add to our playlist.
"So I came up with a list of 20 beautifully written songs that actually reflect the times.
Do add them to your radio playlist this period.
"CAVEAT: Some of these songs wonāt fly if your station is heavily slanted - towards the government š¤·š½āāļø.

Court Restrains NBC From Sanctioning Broadcasters Over Controversial Code
A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) from sanctioning broadcast stations under controversial provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, in a development seen as significant for press freedom in the country.
Justice Daniel Osiagor granted the interim injunction after an ex parte application filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).
In the order dated May 4, 2026, the court barred the NBC, its officers, and agents from enforcing or imposing sanctions on broadcast stations based on disputed sections of the 6th Edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, pending the determination of a motion on notice.
āIt is hereby ordered as follows: THAT AN ORDER OF INTERIM INJUNCTION is granted restraining the Defendant⦠from enforcing, imposing sanctions, or levying fines on any broadcasting station based on the provisions⦠pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice,ā the court ruled.
The decision effectively halts the NBCās recent āFormal Notice,ā which warned broadcasters against presenting personal opinions as facts, intimidating guests, or failing to maintain neutrality in programming.
The suit, marked FHC/L/CS/854/2026, was filed on April 24, 2026, by SERAP and NGE. The groups described the NBCās directive as āarbitrary, unconstitutional and unlawful.ā
In their filings, the plaintiffs argued that the provisions of the Broadcasting Code relied upon by the NBC are āvague and overly broad,ā and infringe on the constitutional right to freedom of expression.
They further contended that, unless restrained, the commission would continue to use the provisions to āthreaten and sanction broadcast stations and presentersā for carrying out legitimate professional duties.
