A short drive from Houston Texas, there's a picturesque estate destined to be one of Airbnb's next exciting attractions.
The site will soon be the location of a sprawling custom home. The owners of this property recently asked us, "how can we make the house appear seamlessly in the landscape?"
We've been exploring answers to this question as we develop concepts for the grounds of this massive property.
Simply placing a large structure in an expansive landscape tends to accentuate the stark contrast between the two.
One way to increase harmony between the manmade and the natural is by creating a buffer. Trees, vegetation, and other landscaping features can help to blur the lines of demarcation. Another tactic is to balance volumes in the terrain. For example, pool-side pavilions surrounded by wild gardens can give complementary contrast to the home's mass while showcasing a valuable amenity.
We haven't figured it out quite yet, but we are incredibly excited to be assisting our exceptional clients in realizing their vision for this extraordinary property.

From the beginning, we set out to create a home that was simple, elegant, and luxurious, but without going over the top. Like its predecessor, the Cottage House Original, this home has a distinct three pavilion design.
When styling the structure, we turned to our history books for inspiration. Portals passing from one room to another and the column-like arrangments of glass are just a few of the subtle references made to classical art and design.
At 3,006 square feet, the Cottage House Deluxe offers a comfortable and stylish blueprint. A rear-facing living room loaded with expansive glass showcases uninterrupted views while a secondary living space provides variety and flexibility in the layout. Six operable skylights crown the living and kitchen areas with generous amounts of light and air. A spacious master complete with a spa-like bath and elegant wardrobes gives this home an upscale and elevated finish.
