Meet your June cover star, Coronation Street icon Sally Dynevor ✨
This year marks 40 glorious years on the cobbles for Sally, who first appeared in 1986 after landing the role of Sally Seddon at just 22. Originally cast for only six episodes, she quickly became one of the soap’s most loved characters and a familiar face in our living rooms ever since.
In the June issue, Sally opens up to Prima about the moments she’s loved most on the show, from iconic relationships and family life in Weatherfield to the storyline that mirrored her own breast cancer diagnosis, and why returning to the cobbles made her feel incredibly grateful.

‘I never thought in a million years I would have been there for 40 years.’
After two unsuccessful auditions, it was third time lucky for Sally Dynevor when she landed the role of Sally Seddon at 22, first appearing in 1986 in that now-familiar scene where she is splashed by Kevin Webster on her way to a job interview. What was meant to be just six episodes gradually became something far more enduring, as her character’s life unfolded on screen over the years.
From her on-off relationship with Kevin to raising Rosie and Sophie, and later finding happiness with Tim, the role traced out a life in full. But in 2009 it took on a different kind of weight, when her character was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time she learned she too had the disease. Stepping away for treatment, she later admitted she “just couldn’t process it”, focusing instead on her children and trying to keep life as normal as possible.
Returning to the show, she felt “incredibly emotional and so grateful”, an experience that deepened her appreciation for both her work and her life at home.
Now, as she marks 40 years on Coronation Street, she looks back with perspective, and with no plans for leaving drinks at the Rovers any time soon.
