Immigration is America's origin story. I too am an immigrant, my father brougt me to America as a young child. I'm a home owner, I pay taxes and take part and enjoy the same things as American as Apple pie to peach cobbler, summers at the downtown music festivals to debating over Coke or Pepsi. I chose to become a citizen about 12 years ago, and that empowered me, for those who maybe unable to have a legal pathway to citizenship and are scared to speak up. This is my home. America is the only home so many immigrants know. Unless you're a native indigenous person, then your people came from somewhere else to call America home too at some point. Immigrants are doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, musicians, we serve in the military, we are your friends, coworkers and family. We revitalize and renew America, bringing our uniqueness to the melting pot that is America. Don't take us for granted, cherish our contributions to America... someone in your family was once upon a time an immigrant too.
