At Pride South Side 2026, we believe that Love In Action means honoring our roots while blooming exactly where we are. Whether you’re a lifelong Hyde Parker or just passing through 53rd Street, you’re part of the flock.
Let’s keep showing up for each other. Let’s keep putting love into motion. This 10’x30′ mural located in Chicago, IL’s Hyde Park neighborhood features a portrait of Harold Washington, Chicago’s first Black mayor. It also includes images of his apartment home, some local landmarks, and a number of the Monk’s Parakeets that he considered to be his good luck charms. It was commissioned in 2021 by the South East Chicago Commission.
