I'll be tabling at Pride in Panels @prideinpanels in San Francisco on Feb 15, 2026 (this Sunday!), and will be on the Up From the Underground: Queer Comics Pioneers panel from 2:00 -2:45 PM. Since my earliest trans comics creations have never been collected in print, I decided to put together a zine of those old comics, but with annotations to offer more context for those now-outdated topics. Explanations of deprecated terminology, cultural practices that have fallen by the wayside, and why I was mad at Norah Vincent in 2001. This zine will debut at Pride in Panels, and after the show is over I'll add it to my online store so you can snag a copy, should you be unable to attend PiPFest! #prideinpanels #prideinpanels2026 #queercomics #transcomics #transgender #zines #transhistory #transelder #lgbtqhistory

Looking for a cool workshop to spruce up your comic making skills? We've got two amazing workshops during Pride In Panels! 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. / Mini-Comics Extravaganza!San Francisco Public Library Main Branch, Hormel Center (3rd Floor) Queer comics have a profound history of DIY production. Punk zines and mini-comics are made with photocopy machines and staplers and enable artists to get their work into the world without gatekeepers and censors. This workshop run by Sarah Maloney (Queer Ecology) will show you the basics of making your own mini-comic and empower you in the same way as generations of underground artists have been before you! 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. / Making Queer Mini-Comics: Using the Library as ReferenceSan Francisco Public Library Main Branch, Hormel Center (3rd Floor) Ever wanted to make a queer comic but not sure where to start? Come and create your own comic inspired by magazines, archival photos, and/or digital media from the library’s collection. This workshop run by Queer Ancestors Project: Komix Workshop alum Cloud Lu (UNICOMIX, How to Touch Grass) will show you how you can create a full comic from a single image and share comic storytelling techniques to add to your toolkit.

Get ready to workshop your drama with other queer cartoonists! Conflict - whether internal, interpersonal, or global - is an essential element of any juicy story. What are particularly queer flavors of conflict? How do our characters navigate it and learn from it? How does it change them? In this 3-hour workshop hosted by Kristen Zimmerman (Home) and Mike Rossi (Branches), we’ll look at examples of conflict in queer comics, then break into small groups to workshop and critique each other's work. Participants will leave with concrete feedback and an experience of creative community. Each participant should bring 3 copies of a work in progress - a story outline, a fully thumbnailed chapter of a longer project, or a mini comic - to share with other participants.

Pride In Panels goes to the movies! We'll be screening Long Live My Happy Head at the historic Balboa Theater on Friday, Feb. 13th at 7pm, along with a panel after the film to discuss graphic medicine. Long Live My Happy Head is a film about cancer and comic books, but it’s also fundamentally a love story. Gordon has found the love of his life, Shawn – a warm-hearted and protective American man who lives in Bath County, Virginia. Their relationship may be long-distance, but they talk on the phone every day and visit each other as often as possible. We journey with Gordon and Shawn through one of the most difficult times of their lives only to see them emerge from the other side even stronger than before. Through observational footage, video diary, key interviews, and animations created from Gordon’s comics, this film reveals how art, love, and a sense of humor can sooth our deepest fears of mortality and losing the people we care most about. LGBTQIA+ voices have been present from the beginning of the Graphic Medicine movement and indeed were present much earlier than that exploring the fertile intersection of comics and health. Having identities often deemed an illness and having to struggle for actual healthcare with little institutional support, queer artists were always at the front lines. How do queer cartoonists address issues of disability, health education, caretaking, therapeutic art, and humor in the face of tragedy? Come find out with this remarkable panel. Nicole J. Georges (Fetch: How a Bad Dog Brought Me Home) moderates the discussion with Elise Bernal (Loss and Found), Rupert Kinnard (Cathartic Comics), Kaj Kunstmann (Warhead), and Robin Larisch (Body Mind).
