Today is International day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). All LGBTQ+ people around the world deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and to live a life free from discrimination, violence and persecution. Members of the LGBTQ+ community are still persecuted around the globe simply for living as their authentic selves. We have come along way, but we still have a long way to go. Today we send love and solidarity to anyone who has been a victim of hate crime and we pause in remembrance of those lost. Hate will never win 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

To every single person who attended Pride in Cheltenham yesterday: THANK YOU. Thank you for standing with us, celebrating with us, and proving once again what Pride is truly about. Days like yesterday remind us just how important community and solidarity are within our own spaces. When the world can feel uncertain or challenging, coming together in joy, visibility and support matters more than ever. Seeing so many of you dancing, marching, cheering and simply being together despite the rain was genuinely powerful. We would also like to say a massive thank you to our sponsors and also our incredible volunteers, without whom our pride events would simply not be possible. We still have lots planned for the remainder of the year - more news on that soon 💜

Yesterday, the ILGA-Europe 2026 Rainbow Map and Index was published. The UK has fallen to 22nd out of 49 countries, with Spain, Malta and Iceland topping the list. The UK’s rapid decline from a top-tier position to 22nd place is likely linked to the continued regression of protections for trans people, particularly around access to gender-affirming healthcare and legal gender recognition. It also reflects the Government’s continued failure to deliver on long-promised legislation banning conversion therapy. While the UK may not have dramatically moved backwards on paper, it also hasn’t moved forwards. Progress on anti-discrimination protections has stalled, replaced by repeated delays and empty promises from those in power. This ranking speaks volumes. The UK is increasingly being viewed as an unsafe place for LGBTQ+ people, and it is clear that the Government still has a huge amount of work to do. Rights do not protect themselves, and progress is never guaranteed. Silence, delay and inaction all come at a cost.
