CLAPTON CRAFT BREWERY OF THE YEAR 2025 - PDBC 🏆 Though you might think it’s a fool’s errand, or simply impossible to judge the best brewery in a week, let alone a year, we absolutely love the process of knocking our heads together to decide which producer will take the crown - even if it isn’t exactly a science 🔬 In a year where the standards in the UK scene have reached dizzying new heights, there are plenty of more than deserving candidates. Stalwarts like Burnt Mill, Track, Beak and The Kernel have knocked it out of the park, expanding their horizons, and ours in turn ✨ Meanwhile, once rising stars like Two Flints or Gravity Well have ascended into higher pantheons, out-performing bigger, and better funded breweries 🙌 However, no brewery ticked absolutely every box, other than East London excellence in Pretty Decent Beer Co ✅ Read our full report on the local legends over at claptoncraft.co.uk or take a peek at our weekly Newsletter in your inbox now 📥

NEW THIS WEEK 🌱 Life in the Mow Lane - 4.5% Session IPA We love a big hazy, but when you’re tending lawn, only a sessionable number will do. So we’ve packed all the hop character of a 6% NEIPA into a chuggable 4.5% garden-strength pale. Brewed with Mosaic and Simcoe, it’s full of plush apricot and stonefruit, juicy citrus and soft florals. It’s soft, lush and velvety - as all good lawns should be! So fire up the Flymo and landscape like your life depends on it. Because life ain’t ever slow when you’re into the mow 😎

NEW THIS WEEK 🥒 Bedtime Pickles - 7% NEIPA It’s no secret we love Nelson Sauvin, so when @yakimachiefeu were looking for a brewery to best showcase Nelson in all its glory, they reached out to us (blush blush!). The result is Bedtime Pickles - a 7% single-hop Nelson Sauvin NEIPA that Yakima Chief will be pouring at @fynefest26 at the end of the month. It uses Nelson in three different Yakima Chief formats to show off the full spectrum of what this ridiculously good hop can do at different stages of the brew. Because some things just go together, like alllll the Nelson in a beer or pickles at bedtime! We started with a biiiggg Nelson Sauvin Cryo charge in the whirlpool followed up by a Nelson Sauvin™ HyperBoost™ dip hop to build a huge saturated aroma base. Dip hopping is when we add hops before fermentation starts, helping crank up the aromatic oils and creating softer, juicier hop character minus any harsh bitterness. We then finished it with a Nelson Sauvin T90 and Cryo™ dry hop to pile fresh explosive aroma on top. It’s an absolute juice-box of flavour - think tropical Sauvvy B energy with layers of passionfruit, sweet peach and lime. As dreamy-soft as slipping into your king-size gel-top divan at bedtime!

NEW THIS WEEK 🐌 Shine your shells, it’s Mollusc May here at PDBC, and we’ve got two different pales for two different snails! Each is a showcase of the hops we love from New Zealand and the US, with distinct flavour profiles that highlight our favourite characteristics. Try them side by side to see how hops from different parts of the world - shaped by different climates and growing conditions - express themselves, or mix the two together for a totally different experience. Your very own spe-shell blend...? Fast Freddie - DDH Pale Ale 5% An all US hop bill, with Citra, Mosaic and Idaho-7. Think fruit platter on a sun lounger - mango and pineapple, tangerine and grapefruit, and a handful of soft berries. Full and rounded, with a pulpy, juice-like body and a gentle sweetness. Fast Frankie - DDH Pale Ale 5% Built entirely on New Zealand hops - Motueka, Nelson Bliss, and Superdelic. Bright and lively, with passion fruit, ripe peach, apricot, and a Sprite-like tang. Soft, with that distinctly NZ snap.

IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY! 🎉 Another year bites the dust and this time we’re celebrating not-quite-but-very-close-to-being a whole DECADE old. If you fancy helping us raise a beer or two to (the not insignificant milestone of) turning 9 years old, here’s what’s happening: 🍻 Thursday 21st - Birthday First Pour Be the first to try this year’s birthday specials in any of our taprooms. A hazy pale, a NEIPA and a fruit sour, each inspired by the very best (read: worst!) of birthday gifting. Another pair of socks …you shouldn’t have! Starts from 4pm at all taprooms. 🪩 Friday 22nd - Ultra Party Time! (Blackhorse Road) We pride ourselves on our playlists here at Pretty Decent, and the numbers don’t lie - at least five people have complimented them in the last year! So to celebrate our two favourite things: beer and music, team PD are taking to the decks to go B2B2B2B2B each playing a set of their favourite genre. Expect anything from jazz rap to Muzak, noughties Garage to French Hip Hop! Fresh pours of birthday beers, pizzas from @itsnotbigdough , and prizes to be won! From 5pm 🏃‍♂️‍➡️ Saturday 23rd - 10k Tappy to Tappy Nothing says birthday like a big (hungover from the night before) run, because we’re all about wellness as we get older🧘 Starting from the Blackhorse Road taproom we’ll run a 10k route, taking in someone of the finest sights East London has to offer, and finish up at Victoria Park for a birthday beer on us! Meet at 11.30am. Run, jog, walk - all abilities/paces welcome! 🥳 Sunday 24th - Rustie’s (Sheridan) Rodeo Back where it all started 🥲 We wouldn’t be here without the FG community, so come down and celebrate with us at the OG tappy! We’re throwing it back to the year PDBC was born! Drink like it’s 2017 with core beers pouring for 2017 prices 1-3pm, birthday specials on tap, (hopefully) some sunshine 🤞, and pizzas from @papismunchies . From 1pm.

The West Coast IPA is the mullet of the beer world. Iconic, assertive, and not to be messed with. It’s all business up front and party at the back. Chinook and Citra in the hot side lay down a bright, bitter backbone of dry grapefruit and marmalade ‘bits’, while Idaho 7 and Mosaic on the dry hop bring in waves of mango and a dank edge. Number one on the side and don’t touch the back, number six on the top and don’t cut it wack 😉 Available on the webshop and pouring at your local tappy.

NEW THIS WEEK 3 🏆 Macc Loves a NEIPA - 5.3% New England Hazy Pale Back for its sixth outing - Macc Loves A NEIPA returns! Our yearly collab with @rgbeervault in Macclesfield, and a bit of a sentimental one for us. We’ve known Rosie and Greg since the very early days of PD, when we brewed the v1 of this beer and set-off to see them for our first ever Tap Takeover. We got the warmest reception from their locals, and it was the first hint that people who weren’t just our mates were enjoying the beer too. Each year we switch up the hop bill, and this time we’ve nudged the style too, just to keep things lightly confusing! It’s still called Macc Loves A NEIPA, but this year it’s a soft, hazy New England-style Pale Ale instead. Nelson Sauvin leads on the hot side, with Mosaic and Simcoe piled into the dry hop. Soft and juicy, with a Lilt finish. For any footie fans, the label, designed by @dickvincent , is Rosie and Greg’s celebration of one of the greatest shocks in FA Cup history. As a Crystal Palace fan, co-founder James, was thrilled with their suggestion... 🫠

NEW THIS WEEK 2 🍖 Parma Spam - 5% DDH Pale Ale Shoutout to the cured meat that never quite makes the charcuterie board. Aged in the tin for up to five years, Spam is the real workhorse of the cured meat world. And possibly in the world more generally- because when the apocalypse hits, it’s not prosciutto you’re pinning your hopes on is it?! Talking of delicious and reliable*... Nelson Sauvin. This release leans on one of the loveliest-sounding iterations going: Nelson Bliss. It’s a special lot of Nelson Sauvin from @freestylehops , developed through their experimental “Bliss” process, where they play around with harvest timing and processing to get the most out of the hop. You get all that lush tropical intensity you’d expect from a later harvest, but with the bright, crisp edge you’d usually find in earlier picks. Backed up with our hand-selected Nelson Sauvin T90 and Motueka, it’s saturated with big NZ hop character - punchy, plump and tropical AF. *can only apologise for that incredibly bad segue.

NEW THIS WEEK 1 💿 Spinning Plates - 6.2% NEIPA This one was brewed with our pals at @apollonplatebar - part record shop, part bar, and one of the coolest spots we visited on our recent Norwegian adventure. Run by genuinely lovely humans, with dangerously good taste in both music and beer. Spinning Plates leans into that shared love. Idaho 7 Cryo in the hot side sets the tone - soft and pillowy, with a mix of juicy berry sweetness (like those expensive sweets that rhyme with Mandy Mittens, bought strictly when they’re on offer) and Solero tropicals. Motueka and Citra come in on the dry hop with a squidge of citrus and a little extra tropical jazz. Best enjoyed with something decent spinning on the record player.
