No Fail Pistol is hard and you’ll die if you try it.
* TLDR: Stop making excuses and sign up for a No Fail Pistol class. It’s time.
There seems to be a shroud of mystery about what exactly happens at No Fail Pistol (NFP) class and most of it has resulted in creating a sort of legend around the course that deters people from signing up - people who probably need it the most.
Is NFP for new shooters? NO. But, it IS a course for those who care about shot accountability and shooting WELL.
The whole premise of No Fail Pistol is developing the emotional discipline and visual patience to make low percentage shots with 100% accuracy.
So, the difficulty of the course isn’t in the shooting part, really. Frankly, most people don’t like being forced to look in the mirror and realize they have some things to work on that aren’t even related to their shooting.

This conversation came up twice this weekend and it got us thinking there are probably more people doubting their readiness and putting it off No Fail Pistol until they are “ready.” Let’s discuss.
“Are you ready?” Honestly, probably not…But you’re asking the wrong question.
❓What you should be asking is “WHEN should I take No Fail Pistol?” Here are some things to consider:
• Is your gun handling safe and consistent and you have a reasonable grasp on shooting mechanics?
• Are you willing to learn with a sprinkling of humility?
• Do you care about shot accountability?
✅ These are good indicators that it’s time to take the leap and get in a No Fail class.
Conversely, it’s probably not time for you yet, if:
• You have never had any prior instruction or training. You MUST understand range/course safety and be able to execute on these non-negotiables.
• You’ve been in classes but struggled to keep up with the instruction and/or were among the shooters needing the most coaching/overseeing/adjusting with your shooting mechanics.
🚫While these are broad statements and you will always learn *something* from attending No Fail, it is a challenging class and not generally best as the first class you ever take. If you have a few courses under your belt with other instructors, it’s probably time!
You should come to classes to get better, not to “show off” how good you are … many people take No Fail multiple times, seeing improvement each time they attend.
💡No Fail Pistol is a class that develops your emotional discipline and visual patience. As your patience and discipline develop, so does your shooting improve. All of these skills are cultivated with time and practice.
✍️So, let’s hear it from No Fail graduates: What would you say to someone who is intimidated, on the fence, or dragging their feet about whether or not they should sign up?

PSA that isn’t just true for the training industry. Support the instructors you want to train with. Trainers will keep hitting the road as long as classes keep filling!
Especially for traveling trainers who plan the logistics of flights, lodging, rental cars, fuel, meals, range supplies, and often shipping materials/ammo. Knowing headcount as far in advance as possible is clutch.
The increasing trend of late sign ups has hurt a lot of colleagues… here’s the deal- We WANT to be on that range teaching. We WANT to deliver the material and knowledge you pay to receive. NO ONE wants to cancel classes. We…trainers…will do EVERYTHING possible to avoid cancelling.
If you’re planning to train this year, sign up as soon as possible. If you need an alternate payment method or even a payment plan, reach out. Help us help you!
Even if you aren’t coming to a course this year, taking a few seconds to engage with the content of the instructors you support can make a big difference.
Thanks for being the best!

First and foremost the course is structured to focus on HOW to set up and conduct unopposed CQB training in either live fire or Sims/UTM on paper in either shoot houses or actual structures. The course uses the vessel of CQB 101 level instruction to show students how to prepare a run and “cock the house”. The entire POI is geared around why the training area is set up a certain way and how it safely supports the training objectives.
This is essentially a course within a course. Some students will sign up seeking only seeking101 level skills in day and night CQB as a member of an assault team, which is completely acceptable. Three days and nights of CQB runs provide ample opportunity for those wanting to primarily do CQB.
However, setting up a CQB training run is pretty useless if there is not CQB training happening, so all students will rotate through the house as team members in addition to having opportunities to observe others, act as a safety, and provide AAR comments to others training runs. The course flow maximizes student time by alternating between doing the training and facilitating the training of others. The rotation from student to observer/safety provides for a better understanding of the concepts being taught, even if the student will never be an instructor.
Enlisting the student body in the training process provides more sets of eyes and makes for a more in-depth AAR process than if only the PI and AI’s were observers/safeties.
*This is NOT a CQB instructor course*- the intent is not to make someone knowledgeable enough to teach specific CQB tactics, but rather how the CQB run, targets, shot accountability and AAR all support the training objectives regardless of what tactics are being taught.
