"We like the direct feedback, quick response, and 'no fluff' results oriented approach. The guys at BlackBox have been a pleasure to work with over the last 6 months. They are responsive, communicate and collaborate extremely well, and - most of all - know their stuff." - Bryce Smith, Marketing Operations Lead, Pressable . . . #DigitalMarketing #FacebookAds #Clients #ClientSucess #ROI #CRO #InstagramAds #LinkedInAds #SmallBusiness #MarketingAgency #HappyClient #WordPress #bostonadvertising #bostonmarketing #bostonsmallbusiness #bostonsmallbusinessowner

Something we often don’t consider, but which matters tremendously when assessing situations and making decisions, is internal conditions. Ants are useful for considering this aspect. In general, ants are pretty smart creatures and tend to make good decisions. Moving and house-hunting is a big deal for one small species of ant, Temnothorax albipennis, found throughout Europe. Like squirrel monkeys, they collect information on several external features of each potential nest site before collectively making a decision. However, when their internal state is off (e.g., if they are stressed or under a time crunch), they end up making a poorer choice and set up a mediocre nest. In behavioral ecology we call this “speed-accuracy tradeoff paradigm”. In layman’s terms this simply means impulsive decisions made under stress don’t lead to the best outcome. Because stress compromises the ability to make good decisions, take the time to consider your options. To summarize: 🙋‍♂️Making decisions when you are stressed is never a good idea 🙋‍♀️It is harder to anticipate big decisions and its impact on your life. So take your time and list out the pros and cons 🙋What you don’t think about sometimes is why is your current situation good in certain ways and how a decision can change that 🙋‍♂️Making notes of bits and pieces of information are really helpful in the long run and helps you track them better Tony Hisgett/Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 2.0) Source: Tony Hisgett/Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 2.0)

You are probably aware of the speed-accuracy tradeoff. You know that, in general, the more time you spend on something, the more likely you are to do it well. Art Markman Diving deeper into it: 🐨The slower you do things, the greater the likelihood of you being able to finish them off well. 🐨The need to reiterate or do things over have a lot more impact on your time than getting done ☑️ a little slower 🐨Getting it over with isn’t the only important thing. Try and focus on spending time to ensure you don’t have to come back to it. 🐨Things do get easier to complete with time and practice. But doing it once well is much better than doing it quickly thrice.

Approaching your goals — whatever they are — with the attitude of a professional isn’t easy. In fact, being a pro is painful. The simple fact of the matter is that most of the time we are inconsistent. We all have goals that we would like to achieve and dreams that we would like to fulfill, but it doesn’t matter what you are trying to become better at, if you only do the work when it’s convenient or exciting, then you’ll never be consistent enough to achieve remarkable results. James Clear Delving into it further: 👉🏼It seems convenient to get things done when you are at your personal best 👉🏼It helps to note things down when things are going your way on what you are doing right at the moment 👉🏼Going back on them and reading through gives you some insight into how to approach things better when they aren’t working in your favor 👉🏼Being at the top of your game isn’t easy all the time. It just seems like people have it all figured out when the truth of the matter is that they just have become better at dealing with certain things than others

When you look at goals this way, you start to realize that setting up a system for putting your reps in is more important than choosing a goal. Everyone wants to make progress. And there is only one way to do it: put in your reps. The goal is just an event — something that you can't totally control or predict. But the reps are what can make the event happen. James Clear Setting expectations 🍪The end points are not the only things you can look at when you want to achieve something. 🍪Setting the goal is important but so is putting in the work. Making things simpler and repeatable helps 🍪The goal can be controlled but setting up the process is harder to inculcate 🍪Keep track of your reps. It could be a journal, a record online or part of a community. But make sure you keep a check on yourself

It is easy to get bogged down trying to find the optimal plan for change: the fastest way to lose weight, the best program to build muscle, the perfect idea for a side hustle. We are so focused on figuring out the best approach that we never get around to taking action. James Clear Things to keep in mind: 😎Stop identifying the best possible way of doing something and get into the habit of trial and error. 😎There is always a better way of doing something. Pick one and stick to it. 😎What works for you make not work for somebody else. So don’t go nitpicking into every tiny detail. 😎Action creates the triggers that lead to the final goal. You don’t have to have it all figured out all the time

How are you and your values related ☕️? At any given moment in your life, you have a set of abstract values that guide your actions. Art Markman When you think 💭 about it: 🤖Your values are so dependent on how you are brought up 🤖They get molded by experiences both past and current. 🤖The values become more refined and you become more in tune with what you really need 🤖Keeping an open mind definitely helps though. There is always room for some fine additions.

A Psalm of Life ⚖️ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Tell me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day. Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the world’s broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife! Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant! Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act,—act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o’erhead! Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time; Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o’er life’s solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. Let us, then, be up and doing, With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait
