Access to resources shouldn’t be confusing or out of reach.
Through Presente, our community shares pathways to food, wellness support, and trusted information that help people navigate systems that were never designed for us. This is part of how we practice collective care, making sure our neighbors know where support exists and how to access it.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking our community to help us meet a moment of crisis.
Nearly half of the funding we applied for in 2025 was eliminated due to federal cuts -- & new federal requirements forced us to turn down significant grants that would have required monitoring & reporting on immigrants. The result: a $600,000 shortfall threatening the safety, care, & support our communities rely on.
Meanwhile, the danger in Maine is escalating. Since Trump’s re-election, we’ve seen increased surveillance, policing, & fear across the state. Black & Brown immigrants are staying home out of fear of detention. Families are skipping medical appointments. Survivors are afraid to seek help.
And people like Natalie -- an asylum seeker detained after stopping to help at a car accident -- are being torn from their communities. Her story is not an exception -- it reflects a growing pattern of fear, criminalization, & displacement our communities are facing every day.
Presente is leading Maine’s response to these attacks on our civil & human rights. Your support sustains the community defense infrastructure we’re building through the People’s Coalition for Safety & Justice (PCSJ):
✨ Maine ICE Watch Hotline
✨ Detention accompaniment & rapid response
✨ The Verifier Program & Know Your Rights education
✨ The @mainesolidarityfund
✨ Mutual aid through our Food Brigade & Food Hub -- because safety also means food, stability, & care
This is lifesaving work -- & no one else in Maine is doing it.
Your donation keeps this defense alive at a time when it’s needed most. Help us meet this moment with courage, care, & collective power. We keep each other safe.
Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo. ✊🏾💛

Our foundation is a lineage of courage. The tradition of ¡Presente! comes from movements that refused to let the passage of time or injustice erase our people. When we answer the call today, we’re honoring that history and keeping the momentum alive.

Food is cultural infrastructure.
The way we grow, share, and prepare food shapes our communities, preserves traditions, and builds collective resilience. A stronger local food system means stronger communities.

On Tuesday night Cumberland County voted to end its role in a federal detention system that relies on local jails. For years, facilities like this have been used to hold people far from their communities, making it harder to access support, legal resources, and stability.
That system doesn’t run on its own, it depends on local participation. This decision shows that participation can be withdrawn.
Now the question is what comes next — and which communities will follow.
Our systems are built on extraction, from the land and from each other. That model breaks down under climate pressure.
What holds is something else: relationships, trust, and communities that know how to meet each other’s needs.
This Earth Day, build toward what actually sustains you.
Know your people. Know your resources. Start the network.
