Today is international Make Your Dreams Come True Day.
I think it is fair to say that restoring Prescott House was a dream come to true for Mary. She once remarked that it cost her entire life savings but she didn't regret it for a minute. Planning on visiting the Annapolis Valley this summer? Make sure to stop by Prescott House Museum and see this beautiful house in person.

Wintering...a dormant orchard and sleeping garden, just like the museum. Resting and recharging for 2026 season. Have a safe, cozy, and peaceful New Year!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at Prescott House Museum.
During WWII, Mr. David Sutton of Port Williams took in 60 sailors to stay among the homes on Christmas Eve. This photo are of the sailors that stayed with Mary and her sisters over the Christmas holidays.
This history is also documented in the book: "The Port Remembers"
May you all have a peaceful and happy holiday season.

The library is just the kind of room you could spend a rainy afternoon snuggled in front of the fire with a cup of tea, a good book, and perhaps a cat on your lap (or if you’re a dog lover, a dog curled on the rug in front of the fire). The books on the desk belonged to Charles Prescott and all have his signature in them.
"A room without books is like a body without a soul" - Marcus Tullius Cicero

The garden at Prescott House Museum is settling in for its winter sleep. Resting now, but already dreaming of spring days when it will wake up and welcome visitors.

Yesterday we woke up to a beautiful blanket of white snow here at Prescott House. There is something about the first snow, there is a quiet stillness in the air.

A little throwback photo from our archives.
This black and white picture was taken in the 1930s. It is a view from the guest bedroom here at Prescott House Museum. In the foreground you can see the curved driveway shadowed by trees as well as Mary Allison Prescott's rose garden. In the middle ground, Mary Allison stands in her garden. In the background you can see the rolling hills of farmland.

Below are some newspaper clippings from the Halifax Chronicle Herald that Mary or Agnes had saved about WWII and in particular Queen Elizabeth II from 1951.

This little stuffed doggie is on display in the nursey during our season.
This little stuffed toy belonged to Warrant Officer Class II Grant Graves of Port Williams in the 1920s. A favourite toy that he "always had to take to bed with him when he was very young."
Sadly, Warrant Officer Class II Graves, died in Suffolk, England in 1942 during WWII. May he rest in peace.

Today, Prescott House Museum remembers Joseph Hammill Prescott, youngest brother to Miss. Mary, who lost his life on October 1st in 1916 during the battle of the Somme WWI. Today, and every day, we remember his sacrifice, as well as the countless others whose lives were - and continue to be - forever changed by war.
